There are restaurants that feed you, and there are restaurants that test you. Frida’s Little Mexico, regrettably, falls into the latter category—a test of patience, of palate, and of one’s ability to resist slipping out the door to find a taco truck.
The evening began with promise: the dining room was spotless and a prerecorded YouTube DJ piping in peppy Hispanic hits—a small, unexpected joy in what would soon become a long night.
Service, however, was less “welcoming hospitality” and more “witness protection program.” After a glacial wait to be seated, another to be noticed, and yet another after placing our order, the food finally arrived… but no silverware. We sat, we waited, we glanced around. Nothing. Eventually, hunger overrode dignity and my family and I began eating with our bare hands like well-dressed cavemen. My youngest gnawed an enchilada as if reenacting a nature documentary.
The food itself was the very definition of “mid.” Tacos with the emotional range of an Excel spreadsheet, enchiladas that whispered “lukewarm” both in temperature and ambition, and salsa so thin it could be served in a water glass. The only real kick I got all night was from the jalapeño slice I accidentally inhaled.
And then there was the margarita—a ghost of a drink, a translucent suggestion of tequila floating in a lime-tinted puddle. If margaritas were a currency, this one would be worth less than the peso after a bad day on the exchange.
In the end, Frida’s Little Mexico is not offensively bad—it’s worse. It’s forgettable. If you’re in the area, go for the clean floors and the DJ’s charming playlist, but eat before you arrive.
Two stars—one for cleanliness,...
Read moreBrand new location, only has been open a week when writing this. Went there Friday night with my wife. It has a smaller dining area compared to other restaurants but still had plenty of seating. Very colorful walls/painting, a couple tvs playing whatever they are deciding to listen to.
Their menu is done by a QR code on the table, but ordering was done in person. At the end, payment can be done via QR code or paying in person as well.
Food, when you are sat down, they give the customary chips and salsa, and I did find both to be better than average for chips and salsa. We didn't get the cheese sauce, but they were nice enough to sample it to us, and we would most likely try a full order next time. Between us we got the enchiladas and quesabirria tacos. The enchiladas came with a red, green, and cheese sauce. The red sauce, was not spicy like I'm used to, and had meat in it. I thought it had a pleasant mild flavor. The green had a bit of a tang (lime) flavor that I did not enjoy as much. The cheese sauce was definitely palatable. The tacos were definitely on the better end of quesabirrias that we have had, and the consomme was very flavorful. It was served with a roasted poblano, but after the tacos, we had no room for that. Finished it off with the Tres Leches, and they do not skimp on the portion size. Was very good and presentation was nice.
Overall, we are already planning a return trip, and our server Nelly was super friendly and helpful.

Read moreThis place is a real gem. I’ve been searching for truly authentic Mexican food, and this spot delivered in every way. From the moment I walked in, it felt warm and inviting, with singing and happy customers doing karaoke and celebrating life.
I ordered a few different tacos including the birria tacos, and they were incredible. The meat was tender and packed with flavor, and the consommé was rich and comforting. I could honestly drink it by itself. The tortillas tasted fresh and handmade, which makes a huge difference.
The salsas were next level. Not just spicy, but full of flavor. You can tell everything is made from scratch. Nothing felt rushed or thrown together. It all felt like food someone cared about making.
Everyone was friendly and helpful, and it didn’t feel forced. They were happy to explain things and you could tell they actually cared about the experience.
I’ll definitely be back. This is the kind of spot you want to tell people about but also kind of want to keep to yourself. If you’re looking for real Mexican food that tastes like it came from someone’s family kitchen, this is the place.
Thank you for a...
