Well the food , when our server decided to bring it to our table, was very good. We have been going to Coastal for quite a while, and this is the first time we have ever been treated so terribly . This server seemed to like the table behind us , a table I might add came in after us. And I mean, there were two people already seated there when we arrived and were seated. They finished their meal and left they cleaned the table and sat this family of four... my husband and I sat for a bit waiting for this young man to actually come out to start with... he even said to us " I see that your menus are pushed to the side, I'll take it that you are all set to order" ... well we sat for 15minutes until you showed up Sherlock! You cracked the case... sorry but the service got so much worse after that... My husband and I ordered soup and salad and ice tea... FOR TWO PEOPLE... ok... here we go... he goes to the next table and begins to fall all over them ( they were in their seats for 5 minutes tops) explaining specials, we heard nothing about those because he never came over to us... explains even down to the types of drinks for the kids... So we get our ice tea and bread... and we wait, and wait and wait and wait you get the idea... for freaking SOUP that needs to be laddled out into 2 bowls ... why are we waiting so long;
He waited for the table behind us food to be finished and brought THEIR FOOD OUT FIRST.... Remember, we were here first, ordered first.... he made sure that they were all good and happy then gave us our soup and walked away... didn't even ask if we needed anything....
By the time our salads FINALLY found their way out to our table we were their almost over an hour for soup and salad!!!! We told him to get to go boxes... we had enough!!! It was ridiculous!!!
I asked the front hostess station if the kitchen was slow, under staffed, or behind on orders she told me no not at all... she looked very confused why I asked... I was ready to explode.. I have never been treated with such disrespect. He was absolutely the worst waiter we ever met.
We were there Saturday January 22 @ around 1:45 to 3 because of lack of serving skills ... He has dark short curly hair, glasses . I certainly hope that Coastal in Wyomissing speaks to him. It was absolutely horrible. We go out to dinner once on the weekends, and he definitely needs some retraining and a few words from his management. I definitely do not want to ever have him as my waiter again. And I will , if we would have him again at Coastal, request to be moved to another...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped here for dinner. We were seated right away. The atmosphere is very nice, a bit upscale, as fits a nice seafood or steakhouse (this place has both). Though there was some background noise from others around us, it was easy to have a conversation across the table. Comfortable, relaxed feel.
Great selection of beers on tap, wines, and cocktails. The menu has a balance of seafood, meat and other dishes like salads, pasta and sandwiches. At first glance, it might seem like there's not a large selection; but when considering the number of protein substitutions available for the salads, and the prep and sauce alternatives for the fish, and such, there's plenty here that we want to try over multiple visits. The two of us probably could make a meal just out of 2 or 3 of the appetizers alone. Prices are reasonable considering the quality. Everything we had was very well prepared both in presentation and taste.
Bread & Butter served while we waited for our entrees. The bread was dense and flavorful, crisp crust yet soft and chewy inside.
Chilean Sea Bass with Mango Salsa - Excellent. The salsa had small bits of jalapeno here and there, which didn't make it particularly hot but made it more interesting.
Steamed Asparagus and Potatoes Au Gratin sides - Highly recommended.
Grilled Shrimp & Strawberry Salad - Substituted crispy shrimp (fried) for the grilled shrimp. Wonderful salad with an excellent vinaigrette. And the crispy shrimp was not greasy nor mostly breading. Huge!
Peanut Butter Cheesecake - This was a special the night we were there. Also very good, with the peanut butter flavor contributing nicely without overpowering the flavor of the rest.
Service from our waitress, Natalie, was excellent; but the staff also works very well as a team. It was fun watching them cover for each other in various situations. Food and drinks came out quick enough, but we never felt rushed. Attention from our waitress was spot on, checking in often enough, filling water glasses and such, but not bothersome.
This is a great place for a romantic dinner with your spouse or a group event celebration. We highly recommend all of the dishes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent based on reviews, and a small feature on the local news. We have had a bad run of luck, with new restaurants lately, and wanted to give Coastal Grille a shot.
We were greeted, in a very friendly way, by the hostess, and seated promptly. A server immediately came to our table to discuss specials, and took our order for drinks and appetizers. He explained that he wouldn't be our main server, and we LOVED the fact that we didn't have to wait. Other places we've been, it's as if we were invisible to the staff, not here! We both really like the promptness and teamwork displayed by the entire staff. From taking dirty plates, and keeping an eye on our drinks made us, as customers, feel important and gave the impression that the whole staff was there to make our experience enjoyable. Some establishments (not cheap ones either), the employees act as if they hate their job. From start to finish, we were merrily greeted as we left as well, service here was TOP NOTCH!!
The food here was very tasty, and presented beautifully. The lobster bisque soup, and seared sesame ahi tuna appetizer (iwhich was a work of art!!) were delectable. The soup was out of this world! My wife ordered grilled Mahi Mahi, and I the Jambalaya plate. Both dishes were excellently prepared. Portion size was generous, and we were both full. We also ordered house margaritas, let me tell you some places in the area cannot make a margarita to save their life, which were made perfectly, a total bargain, and tasted great!
I would HIGHLY recommend Coastal Grille. Go here for the food, drinks, and service. You won't find a better combination of the three anywhere else! I would give 10 stars...
