For many years my wife and I would frequent Cafe Moda with many of our friends when it was under different management. The new manager, Leilani (the owner's girlfriend) is the rudest person I have met, with zero customer service skills. She is disrespectful, demeaning, obnoxious, just plain nasty. She thought she could be a smart alec with me until she found out I went up one side of her and down the other. After ordering bottle service we were allowed two mixers. So we go through the mixers only to find out she wants to charge us for all mixer refills. Correct me if I'm wrong but when you go to a club and get "bottle service" the price of the mixers are included. Not at Cafe Moda. It would have been nice to know this prior to opening the bottle. Needless to say I told them to take the opened bottle back. That's just the beginning. My guests didn't have napkins. We didn't have enough plates or place settings. The waitress was not clearing plates. Not everyone had drinks (not even water). I was bussing the tables and waiting on my own guests. This place is a joke. We were there for my birthday and it felt like I was having a bad dream. We had more people show up than expected and Leilani was not interested in accommodating us. She couldn't care less to have our business. I had to make a decision. I took my group of 30 people over to Bropards across the street and had a blast!!! The manager, Tara, was happy to take our business (and it was big business for a party of 30). Actually Tara used to be the manager of Cafe Moda during the good days, which is why we USED to love to go to Cafe Moda. Not anymore. If you want to be treated like family go see Tara at Bropards. If you want to be treated like a criminal go see Leilani at Cafe Moda. Last night was the last time we will ever step foot in Cafe Moda. And all 30 of my guests share the same feeling. Great job Leilani!!! And to the owner (Bill Carney), I know Leilani is your girlfriend, but she's going to end up destroying your business. Just read other reviews about her. They...
Read moreI've known about this place for years, but last night was my very first time of going there.
My friend and her friends were regulars, so when we got there, we didn't wait to be seated. We got there around 9pm and it wasn't that busy yet. There were people dancing already on the dance floor.
I assumed the place was huge, but it wasn't. And when you go there, you'll see different types of races, because everyone is welcome.
There are definitely PROs and CONs in this place:
CONS They don't check IDs so I'm assuming minors get to go in without getting kicked out. Or at least last night when I went, they didn't check for me or my friend's ID.
Don't order Chicharon Bulaklak, because they use old/used cooking oil and you can immediately tell once you taste/eat it. The Pork sisig was good, though. But maybe 7/10 for me.
They have limited staff so when the place gets packed, it takes forever to get served with food and drinks.
The place gets OVERLY PACKED once 12MN hits. Meaning, there really is no social distancing in this place AT ALL. People don't wear masks anymore once they're inside the place.
Restroom is DIRTY.
PROS:
If you want to have fun and want to meet more Filipinos, this is the place to be.
They have bands and music preferences are good. They play both old and new songs so all ages can relate, dance, and party.
You will definitely meet a lot of nice people here especially the regulars or people who always go there. Everyone is friendly.
I guess I don't really have much PROS to say about this place. Honestly, even if I had fun, I don't think I want to go back here. It's not my cup of tea. But I guess it's still worth trying and checking it especially if you want a place full...
Read moreI don't enjoy too many Pinoy spots, but this is my favorite hangout regardless of category! This place is so diverse. Growing up here as a youngin' coming to all the parties in '04, you don't value you it so much at that young an age. I hang out in every city and neighborhood to support the local spots, entertainment, or friends. I still find myself longing to come back here for food, drink, vibes, singing, and dancing! The DJs, occasional bands and pro singers, Karaoke, the speakers, the lights, personal interactions with nee and old friends, and much more here!
Too often, you'll find a great spot but later find a glaring issue. Deal breakers are common. Too loud, too smokey, too old, or too modern. The pros are also the cons. I find a healthy balance of tourists and locals here. People will karaoke in so many different languages! There may be other bars and karaoke spots nearby, but they don't compare! After 24-25+ years, it shows exactly why Moda is still here! You frequently make a great business and off work relationship with staff and management here. They invite you to all the parties. It's so pleasant to see people dance, clap, and invigorate the singers with all that energy!
The food menu is pretty extensive, and all items listed are delicious. The portions are plenty and filling. No details are needed. Just pick something!
Invite your family and pals and come by on 3 different times for a different experience. Early birds or the weekday crowd will find the family friendly groups with kids and seniors. Happy hr evening times for those going to or off work. The late-night crazy dance frenzy, weekend hooligans with the lasers and...
