Tried to make a call to this place more than 10 times in two days in a row to make a reservation cause I knew this place was really busy, but no success. Once I showed up, the staff told me there should have been some problem with my phone, which was not fact at all as I was making several calls already except for this place. I believe the staff picks up the phone only when she wishes to. I tried during their regular open hours and even right after their opening hour...
Eventually, I was there 8:40pm yesterday evening and got informed of 45- 60 min waiting time at 8:43pm. However, they gave me a call in 25 minutes (@9:08pm) and requested to come back in 5min... I was doing some shopping nearby, expecting a minimum of 45 min to wait, so I needed more time to finish.. So they gave my slot to the next team and put me into the next waiting spot informing it would take 20 minutes(@9:09pm).. So I rushed to fisnish my shopping to get there by 9:30pm..
Ridiculously, the reservation staff gave me a call at 9:22pm (13 minutes from the first call) and urged me to come back in 5minutes and if I fail so I need to wait for another 30 min there.. I begged ( my gosh) to keep my spot by 9:30 pm sharp, and the staff agreed to do so, telling me if I do not show up by 9:30pm sharp, she would give the spot to the next team.... I really rushed driving even if I felt humiliated with that conversation... the staff kept saying "I gave you a second "chance" but you are not meeting the restaurants guideline to come back in 5 minutes from our confirmation call"...Anyhow I decided to go there based on my conversation with her.
I took a risk in driving to meet 9:30pm SHARP, which I made and showed up exactly at 9:30 pm in front of the reception... Then the staff whom I talked to said she gave my spot to the next waiting team at 9:27pm!!! I reminded her of our conversation / agreement over the phone to keep my spot till 9:30pm, but she just brought the manager and hid behind the manager..
The manager was more interesting person cause the manager kept talking about and teaching me the 5 min rule, not listening to my conversation with the staff at the reception. I was really annoyed at their disposal of my spot regardless of my verbal agreement with the staff of reservation, so my voice was not nicely polite.. The manager never listened to me but kept saying the 5 min rule and was sarcastic at me by saying "hey listen, hey cam down, we gave you a second "chance" as a special case, you should wait for our call staying nearby"...which I knew and heard of from the reservation staff and I made agreement with her to have 3 min more to come back!!
How do this restaurant think of their customers? I think they believe they are giving "chance" to eat their food and they are urging the cusotmers in their waitlist to stay outside around for one hour and come back in 5 min whenever they "allow" us to come back, which is ridiculous mind set.... I cannot believe how they can say they are giving a "chance"...
These guys are expecting the guest to respect them but do not respect the conversation the customer had with their staff... They didn't honor what they told me.. The manager was repeating and teaching the principle, and the actual staff I talked to was hiding behind the manager.
In the end, I decided not to bother other people at the restaurant and got fed up with those two staff members so stepped out. The manager kept being sarcastic at me when I was still stepping out..
The mindset and attitude of the staff were very disappointing and below the standard.. Also, this place should have a better reservation tool likewise another person complained here rather than relying on single staff...
Read moreI didn't want to write this review, but I felt completely disrespected for the way me and my family were treated by the hostess tonight.
I want to preface by saying that we frequently ate at Hachi because the food and service had always been fantastic. We always dined in a group of 4 or 5 and leave a 25-30% tip. We are extremely polite and we even stack the dishes to make the waiters' job easier. After what happened tonight, we will never be returning.
Tonight, I initially asked for a table for 5 people because I thought that everyone could make it for dinner.
The hostess sat us down, but then I found out that one person in our group could not make it, but we would still have 4 people in total. I told a waitress about our situation, and she went ahead to take away the extra seating. However, the booth without the extra seating would only fit a maximum of 4 people anyway.
At this point, three of us were already seated and we were still just waiting for one person to arrive.
I understand that Hachi has limited seating and I made the mistake of thinking there would be 5 in our party, but I was surprised when the hostess came to our table and told us:
"We can not seat you here because this booth is needed for 5 people, so can you wait outside for a moment?"
I quickly explained to the hostess that one person couldn't come, but we will still would have had 4 people in total with us and we were just waiting for her to arrive.
We immediately stood up and waited outside for a 2-3 minutes until the same hostess came out and told us that we could come back inside.
Mind you, Hachi was not as crowded as it normally was at this moment, so there were empty tables when we were initially seated. After being kicked out, a few parties also left as we were waiting outside, so I do not understand the logic the hostess took. If you were going to make us wait because it was crowded, we would've understood but it wasn't. What was the point of asking us to wait outside for 2-3 minutes? There wasn't even any incentive for us to lie, so what point were you trying to prove?
FOR THE SECOND TIME, I explained to the hostess that one person couldn't come, but we will still would have had 4 people in total with us and we were just waiting for her to arrive. Our 4th person was still trying to find parking.
We always treat everyone with respect, so the fact that we were treated in this manner was unacceptable. I told the hostess that her actions were "Okay" because I understood that she needed to do her job, but it was not okay that she kicked us out after I explained that we still had one more person arriving. We decided to leave to eat elsewhere. We were not rude to anyone, so why were we treated like this?
The hostess did not even seem remotely apologetic and she didn't have an ounce of care of whether or not we ate at Hachi.
At the end of the day, I know you probably won't care that we won't come again, but I hope this hostess does not treat customers this way again and I hope that Hachi management will address this.
There was no logic in kicking a group outside, and then after only 2-3 minutes, telling them that they could come back inside when there were already plenty of empty tables. It felt like the hostess was just having a bad day and wanted to take her anger out on us. I understand Hachi staff probably deal with a lot of bad customers, but this was completely...
