Well this is a really great new place and the food was really good BUT the young lady who served us today was really unapologetic after telling her weâd waited for a while even though the table who sat next to us and was seated at the same time had their order taken right away by another server while we were left waiting (a good 10+ minutes) she seemed taken back at what Iâd said but offered no apologyâŠ.she just said âthanks for our patienceâ after taking our order. Mind you itâs their first week and theyâre busy (means good food in my book) but still how guests are treated goes a long way and this server really lacks in showing professionalism, courtesy and consideration for guests and their needs.
Speaking of taking our order, I asked her about a menu item and her response was to pronounce the name of the item so I think she was clarifying the name but Iâd never heard the term before so when I asked again she proceeded to repeat the info on the menu but the menu lacks clarity on what the main items of the dish in fact were. I finally guessed what the menu item was and tried to get help with recommendations from her but still a bit of a disconnect. Then She asked if I just wanted more time to decide and sheâd come back to which I said no please weâve been waiting. She then said since weâd had plenty of time to read the menu so I replied weâd been waiting to get some recommendations and explanations of the menu. Wow! Again a big disconnect on what we needed and were asking of her. So yeah a bit rude to us and later another table near us correcting the guest i think on some terminology? and that the owners were in fact not Hawaiian.
Honestly I think itâs more just her personality but as someone who worked in the restaurant industry for many years from major hotels to small restaurants she did a real disservice today and it affected not only our tip but weather or not we would go back for sit down serviceâŠtake out for sure as weâre wanting to try other menu itemsâŠwhen you see the other dishes being served around you trust me youâll want to try them all!
Beautiful presentation and big portions.
*I subtracted one star from FOOD because I can still taste garlic an hour after leaving. Itâs from the garlic rice but I think they used garlic oil and itâs too much even for a garlic lover as I am.
In comparison everyone else working there were really wonderful and fun to interact with.
We wish them...
Read moreIf youâve never had Hawaiian comfort food slap you in the soul and whisper, âYou ainât leaving hungry,â then clearly youâve never been to Guieb CafĂ©. Tucked away like a secret island oasis in the desert, this place is where calories go to party and taste buds go to church. Letâs start with the omeletsâthese bad boys are chonky. I ordered the one stuffed with Portuguese sausage, bacon, spam, and cheddar, and I swear it was so loaded, it needed a work visa. Every bite was like a breakfast luau in my mouth. It came with a side of rice because⊠Hawaii. Now the mix plate specials? Whew. Itâs like they knew I was indecisive and said, âDonât worry, braddahâweâll just give you everything.â Mine had fried chicken, fried fish, Teri beef, and spam all chilling on the same plate like it was a family reunion. Then I thought Iâd lighten it up with the ahi salad, because you know, balance. Donât be fooledâthis salad ainât your average bowl of greens. It had furikake-crusted ahi that looked like it graduated from culinary school, strawberries, crab, and seaweed. I legit felt healthy eating it⊠right up until I chased it down with pancakes the size of my steering wheel. Ah yes, the ube haupia French toast. If unicorns had a signature brunch dish, this would be it. Purple. Fluffy. My fork and I were in a toxic relationship where I kept trying to leave, but I kept going back for just one more bite. Service? Friendly. Fast. Like your cool cousin who always knows the best food spots. Atmosphere? Casual. Cozy. It smells like garlic rice and good decisions. Final verdict? Guieb CafĂ© is a vibe. Whether youâre hungover, homesick for Hawaii, or just in the mood to destroy your diet with dignity, this spot hits harder than a wave at Pipeline. 10/10...
Read moreWhat a great addition to Las Vegas. Guieb Cafe is definitely a hot spot with Hawaii/Filipino inspired dishes. Dined here on a Sunday morning, and we just beat the brunch crowd. Came around 10 am, and we waited for about 10 minutes max for a table of two. But after we were sat, they got really busy and people were waiting outside. Service was good, and I love the Aloha and local style service. Really made me feel like I was home in Wahiawa. What a coincidence that a guy sitting on the next table was from Wahiawa and went to Leilehua. Feels good to randomly talk to people from your hometown. #LHSMules
Food: Adobo Omlette add Lechon Kawali topped with onion and tomatos tomatoes Side Fried Chicken Crab Salad Portuguese Sausage
The omlette was delicious. I actually poured the vinegar over the rice to give it more flavor. If you don't like vinegar or acidic taste, don't do it, but I truly loved it. The lechon was equally as delicious but not hot. More room temperature. My BF enjoyed the crab salad. I didn't have any of that. The Portuguese Sausage was also delicious. It's not a pepper kind of taste but more mild. Definitely will order that again. The highlight for me was the fried chicken. I had to order a piece just to try. It looked so good on other people's plates that came with the Waffles. The presentation was beautiful. The chicken was tender, breaded perfectly, and the skin... omg!!! A MUST.
Overall, it's an awesome spot to dine at. Highly recommend, and I'll be back to try the...
