I am a Vegas local and my mom, aunt and I visited this restaurant on 11/28/28 @ 12 pm to celebrate our birthdays. After arriving, we were seated very quickly.
Our server came over and greeted us, took our beverage order and we told her we wanted to order a large bowl of Won Ton soup to share. Our server said she would put the soup order in while we still looked at the menus to get that going. We thanked her for doing that.
After waiting 30 minutes and still not getting our soup, we asked another staff member walking around to please send our server over as we still hadn't received our soup and haven't seen our server since ordering. A few minutes later a manager came over (young Asian girl) and after we explained how long we had been waiting just for the soup, she went to check on it and came back making all sorts of excuses of how they were very busy, there were many checks ahead of ours and then asked us if we wanted to order something else that would be quicker. I said "quicker"?, we have already been waiting 30 minutes and it shouldn't take but a few minutes to ladel up a bowl of soup. She left and about 15 minutes later returned with a half filled bowl of soup that looked awful and not appetizing.
At that point we decided we had enough of this horrible service and if it took 45 minutes to get a half bowl of soup, how much longer would it be to get the entrees we ordered. We got up and walked out of the restaurant.
We ended up dining next door at the hotel's coffee shop, where we had fast, friendly service and delicious food. Upon leaving the coffee shop, the coffee shop manager (John Hebert) was at the cashier and I stopped to chat with him for a few minutes to find out the name of the manager at Ondori as well as the Food and Beverage managers name so I could talk to them about the horrible service we received at Ondori.
The coffee shop manager, John was very friendly and concerned about the experience we had at Ondori and apologized over and over for that. He gave me the names of Lisa Taylor and Zach Hilbery as well as a phone number to call to talk to one of them.
The next day, November 29th, I called and asked to speak to Lisa Taylor and was directed to her personal voicemail. I left a message explaining briefly about having a bad experience at Ondori and I would love to give her the details, if she was interested, to call me and left my call back phone number. I NEVER received a call back so I can only assume that she wasn't interested in hearing about my experience.
This is not the first time we have experienced slow/poor service at Ondori but we decided to give them another try. We have learned our lesson now to avoid this restaurant anytime we are at The Orleans. There are many other restaurants in the casino and around town to be spending our money at Ondori where the service is terrible and the management doesn't care about their customers...
Read moreI've been here probably five times... Service is great, it is very clean, great atmosphere, good sushi bar, good regular bar, TVs with sports going, and they even have some good specials.
So usually I get the happy hour special. You can research online when happy hour is... It is usually during the mid afternoon or late at night. Anyway you can get delicious sushi rolls for $5 which includes Yellowtail and Alaska Rolls, they also have dumplings, chicken fried rice, and beef lo mein for five bucks. They also serve a large carafe of hot sake for 5$ which is a must have.
The other day, I couldn't make it in there for happy hour so I tried the tofu and seafood hot pot for twenty bucks. OMG, this was unbelievable. It comes with a side of brown or white rice. Then they brought the pot out, it was a huge helping of Scallops, squid, shrimp, tofu, mushrooms, celery, maybe a few other mixed veggies. I hadn't eaten all day, but could still not quite finish it. Seafood was fresh and delicious, I am from the Gulf Coast and I know my seafood. This was an excellent meal for $20.
I also got the sake bomb for $7 this is not a good deal. You only get one shot glass of sake and a 12 oz glass of beer.
Again if you're at the Orleans, try to make it to this place for happy hour for the drinks and sushi alone. If you can't, the seafood here is...
Read moreExperience/Environment: Dimly lit, cozy, but yet enough space and didn’t feel crowded. Sushi bar in the front, friendly for single eaters.
Price: For a nice restaurant, inside a hotel, prices were very fair and affordable.
Food: I was actually surprised the food had authentic Asian taste to it. I’m not a big fan of Americanized Chinese restaurants, but this was pretty good to my surprise.
Service: Y’all know I’m a stickler for service. Let me tell you about our waitress Alex. We saw her probably a total of four times. Two of them, we ordered food. One of them, she gave us the check, the other time I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt that she actually checked on us. I watched her as she checked on every other table that she had along the back wall of the restaurant — but nothing with us. The server Derrick was nice. He brought out all of our food, but not once did our waitress stop by and say anything. We had a pretty big party so we were at the big table in the middle and she passed by us multiple times to get from one side of the restaurant to the other — and said nothing.
NTT [[Next Time Try]]: I’ll pass. I struggle going back to restaurants knowing I won’t be treated with good customer service.
Thank me later ;) Smile, eat, hydrate. Live honest and don’t settle. Hope to see you...
