It was my family's random "let's find a new ramen house to try" event. I mean who wouldn't want a bowl of warm ramen on a cold/windy Vegas night? We discovered this restaurant after a Google search and immediately headed to the restaurant because we were starving. The restaurant was a little difficult to find at first because I thought it was upstairs in the Chinatown Plaza, but it wasn't...it was downstairs (I think I'm just getting old and my navigation skills are diminishing). Regardless, we got more steps in and worked up an even bigger appetite.
When we walked in, it took a while before anyone acknowledged our presence which was a little concerning at first. Within ~4 minutes, an employee finally walked up to us and escorted us to our table. The first thing I noticed was that everyone was waiting for their food so either this restaurant was running a little behind or everyone coincidentally arrived at the same time. Whenever our drink order arrived, we were still missing one item, but went ahead and ordered our appetizers and main entrées. We ordered Gyoza, Shishito Peppers, Soft Shell Crab, and Okonomiyaki as our appetizers; and Tonkotsu Shio Ramen, Tonkotsu Miso Ramen (added garlic oil and nori), and Show Black Ramen as our entrées.
After 2/4 appetizers arrived, we were wondering if our one drink was ever going to arrive, so we followed-up with our server and they finally brought it within a couple minutes. Soon after the arrival of those two appetizers and one drink, our ramen arrived. Our ramen arrived super hot which was weird because I've never had ramen that piping hot before, but it was appreciative considering the temperature outside. Also, I was a little disappointed with the lack of choices to add to our ramen (i.e., fried garlic chips, bean sprouts, etc.), but overall, the ramen was good; the broth was flavorful and the pork chashu was phenomenal.
The Gyoza arrived during the middle of our meal and the Okonomiyaki finally arrived towards the end of our meal. I was bummed out that those two appetizers didn't arrive in the beginning like appetizers are typically meant for. Additionally, when our Gyoza arrived, it was slightly burnt which was displeasing to say the least, but the ingredients tasted great - I was really hoping that the Gyoza would've been perfect because for one, it's Gyoza!! And second, it took so long to arrive, it should've been perfect. But I digress...
The prices at this restaurant is about the same as other ramen restaurants in this city and I have zero complaints about it - they're very reasonable. Also, the décor was very nice here; I loved the outdoor concept appearance. All-in-all, this restaurant is ok...I know a lot of people have had great experiences here (based on their overall Google rating); however, for our first visit here, we were struck with less than adequate service and only satisfactory food quality. I will add that this restaurant was recently opened, so maybe they're trying to work out its bumps in the road, or maybe we arrived during an off day for them. Perhaps in the future, we might try this restaurant again, but I don't see that occurring anytime soon. Though, if you haven't been here before, I still recommend this restaurant to you.
NOTE: I would recommend to the restaurant to update the online menu because there were a couple things I didn't see on there to which your in-person menu contains (e.g., Okonomiyaki and Show...
Read moreI’ve been coming to this place for a couple months now. When I first learned of it I came at least once a week. We regularly order take out from here since it’s so close from work. Food was always great and the service was as well. Unfortunately after today’s experience I’m not sure I would like to return in a while. We came around 12 am so it wasn’t too busy there was only two tables occupied. It did take her a while to seat us but we understand she was the only server. After we got sat down we were ready to order but she left us to go seat another couple (we completely understand). After a while we noticed she was taking the couples order and we hadn’t even gotten our drink order taken. We assumed they must just ordered as they got sat. I hate to say we were treated differently because of our race but that’s truly how we felt. She was so kind to the other tables and shared laughs as well but when it came to our table she would just leave the food and go away in a rush (it wasn’t busy) Later on we get our drinks and she asked for our order it all went well until we got our orders. She had placed one of our items incorrectly. I did hesitate to let her know just because we didn’t have a great interaction. I couldn’t seem to get hold of her until I went to front and kindly asked her if we could get it fixed since we don’t pork. I assured her we hadn’t touch the food but she just seemed frustrated. She ended giving us a remake which we appreciated but it just felt very awkward and...
Read moreSince Covid, restaurants have been closing earlier, even in Vegas. While visiting for a convention, I had the late night munchies and found this absolute gem of a Ramen/Japanese Street Food restaurant.
Their happy hour menu from 10pm-close on Mon-Thurs is an absolute bargain for those looking to satisfy a craving and are foodies like me or at least tolerant of trying different foods that you might see lining the streets of Osaka.
I started with the Geso Kara (battered and deep fried squid tentacles). It was flavorful and cooked perfectly tender with an enjoyable outer crunch. EXACTLY like I would find at a good street vendor.
Having tired of the typical bowl of ramen, I ordered their Curry Ramen Special topped with Chasyu Pork (seared pork belly), parmesan cheese and green onions with a side of buttered seasoned rice. OMG! What beautiful flavors and broth! I'm not sure I could ever enjoy a traditional bowl of Ramen again!
I will definitely be returning every day while on my convention to explore more of their vast menu and hoping they survive Covid so I can visit again on my next trip back to Vegas.
Eat well, stay...
