[Above all, will I be back?] This place is many local's favorite and have other locations throughout the world (Japanese franchise), if you are a matcha lover, it is worth to check out one time at least. I am not a sweet tooth/dessert person so I came here for my friends and it was okay for me. However, it is just my personal preference. I think I will be back for my friends again lol
Drinks This place is heavily focused on Matcha/Hojicha, which is sourced from Uji, Japan. I had lemon Matcha tea - It was a bit bitter. Nothing special. I will try other items instead. There is saying it is kinda too sweet for the drinks so maybe ask for less sugar.
Ambience It is a small & cute place with about 5-10 tables. Wood interior. Casual, lively and inviting & comfortable. Some Japanese themed cute photo ops here and there. Hawaiian music was being played. Customers usually stay 15-30 minutes and go but I think you can hang out longer for studying or working.
Service You pay and get the order by yourself at the counter. The staff was kind, attentive and quick.
Hygiene The glasses, cups, utensils, the table and floor were clean.
Price $5-$10 (see my pictures)
Restroom It was clean and well maintained. Gender separated. Only one toilet in the bathroom and it was spacious.
Location It is at one of the busiest plaza in Chinatown (Hachi Izakaya, Korean Q Bistro/Karaoke bar, Ramen Tatsu, China mama, etc) 15 minutes from the Strip.
Parking So it can be tricky to find a parking spot.
ETC Free Wifi available
My girlfriend and I came here after dinner tonight before the storm hit!
I had never been here before despite my GF raving about this place to me earlier in June. I'm not going to lie, I'm not the biggest matcha/green tea fan in the world so I was a little hesitant coming here. Lucky for me, I was pleasantly surprised.
The atmosphere was great as the space was simple and designed well while the people (a lot of them mind you) all seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I ended up ordering off of the Matcha Lover Top 5 list and went with a Hojicha Latte. To be honest, I never thought I'd like a drink from here at all but I guess I hit the jackpot with my choice. It was never too strong or overwhelming and it tasted good from beginning to end.
The customer service was great all around. Now, I can say this with certainty because I've never seen a place lose it's power (the storm knocked out the power for the surrounding streets) and have the customers still get their orders and hang out/be happy as if this was something normal. I was very impressed.
All in all, I am happy to have found another go-to spot here in Vegas for my friends and me!
P.S. I absolutely will be back! I have to try the soft serve...
Read moreI went on an early Friday evening to avoid the crowd, in fact I went here before I even went to dinner. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I know this is the Matcha Cafe Maiko and I have only had matcha once or twice but I haven't had black sesame soft serve before so I chose that. Business was just starting to pick up but it was a very short wait, as the staff was very efficient. I normally am a cup guy for my ice cream as it isn't as messy but this time I went with the cone. I immediately realized why I don't normally do cones as I sat down and attempted to take a photo. My ice cream promptly plopped onto the table. I immediately scoped it back into the cone but it was no longer photo worthy. The black sesame tasted like... sesame, who would have thought? Actually it was very good and would be my go to choice but I still have to try the ube and matcha flavors. The cone was very good as well. I now know of a new thing to try which is a cone, upside down in a cup. Best of both worlds, right? We’ll see. I will definitely be back not just for the soft serve, but to try a number of other things that...
