The reviewer that posted about the customer service is correct...
The lady working the counter literally ignored customers and was on an ear piece talking to someone...
I stood at the counter twice for atleast 5 minutes each time and she didn't not even greet me...
Instead she waited to finish giving food to everyone who had already ordered takeout food..when all 4 or 5 people got thier food then she spoke to me.
Their menu online is out of date ..they only had one vegetarian option for an entree even though online they have a few listed...and it was more expensive then what was stated online.
The portion size was a problem...for $11:00 I got frozen cut veggies and a small side serving of rice...the stew flavor was good...but I could have gone to a Caribbean buffet for that price...and ate til I was full...
I left hungry and really disappointed...I went across the street to the african store and grabbed a jamacian spice bun on my way to work...
I will never eat here again...I feel ripped off..
I am also jamacian...this place made me miss my moms food..and portion sizes.
The only time the girl at the counter smiled was when an older black man with dreads came to the counter
I feel disappointed that my kinsman would treat me this way...it is not representative of our people...jamacians are known for their friendliness..
I understand that people have bad days and that things get busy but at the end of the day this is a business and these are the kinds of things that turn customers away...
I drove by last night and planned to take my friends here...I am glad I stopped in first before taking them here..
These are small changes that can be fixed easily .. I ask that you please listen to the criticism of customers who have experienced the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent 06/09/24 for first time. I ordered large jerk chicken for $16.23. As for the chicken, I received 1 thigh cut into 4 pieces along with 1 drumstick, just the top of the drumstick at that - in other words, a leg quarter.. For $16 dollars, I could at least have gotten 2 cut-up thighs to make it look like more meat. To top it off the drumstick part was dry. It was mostly dry rice, with few beans, tasteless cabbage, and two plantains. The plantains were as dark as the chicken. I thought they were wing flats. I was highly disappointed. I thought to myself, what do you get chicken wise for a regular oder? 1 cut-up thigh. You ever felt ripped off - taken advantage of and should have said something or like the restaurant owe you back for this? I knew something was up because the guy came from back and asked the lady and mysef, what was i waiting on. She, as well as myself, told him a LARGE jerk chicken. He got a white container and went to the back. He returned from the back a few minutes later, then asked AGAIN who this order was for. Almost out of guilt because he knew he was about to do me wrong with the portion size. I responded, me. Thinking to myself, he just asked who it was for looking directly at me before he went wemt to the back -what's his deal? His deal was that he knew that plate wasn't sufficient. I should have called the restaurant back and complained , as i had gotten it to go and discovered the meat portion when i got home. Oh, well. First...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTried this location for the first time. the rice and peas were pretty good. I did enjoy the sprinkle of spices and the flavor of coconut milk in random bites, but it wasn't congruent throughout. The plantain was definitely on point and delicious and I love that. Some places don't know what they're doing with it, this place definitely does.
The cabbage is very savory, very flavorful. I actually prefer mine to be sweet and savory. More like they do in Jamaica, but it wasn't bad.
I had the jerk pork. It was okay. A little drier, and they do leave the fat or skin on it. It's not really seasoned and spicy by itself. They do offer sauce on the side, which is basically just a spicy sauce, is not a barbecue or flavorful sauce besides just being a spicy sauce. I didn't really like the sauce, and the meat just was okay to me. It wasn't so dry that I was upset, but I felt like it could have been more moist, and it could have been seasoned.
I did order two plates of this, and the plate servings of meat and were not the same to me, one plate had clearly more meat and the other more plantain than the other.
Overall, I would give it a three to four out of five because I enjoyed the rice and cabbage okay and the plantain so much. I went ahead and gave them 4 because there's no 3.5. I would be willing to come back and try a different entree next time, probably not another jerked meat, but maybe their oxtail or curry...
