I am really excited to have shop near me that sells snow ice and I don't have to go all the way down to Bellaire to eat it anymore! I've been here twice to far. The first time I ordered their Taro Cream Blend and my sister ordered the mango cream blend, both with boba. After reading other reviews and responses on google, I now understand why the Taro Cream Blend tastes quite different that expected. I usually order a Taro Cream or Slush at boba places just to gage the quality, and instead of tasting the taro flavor I am used to, I tasted more of a sweet, somewhat flavored milk taste, which wasn't my favorite. Apparently this is due to the stores choice on how they flavor their taro drinks. A slight disappointment, however, my sister's Mango cream blend tasted REALLY GOOD! I was pleasantly surprised at how good and sweet the mango flavor was (usually I run into a more sour flavor). I will say that the BOBA is cooked really good at the place. Normally I find boba places to not cook their boba fully and you have this really chewy texture. I didn't know boba could be this soft. It's honestly what saved the Taro cream blend for me. There are so many flavors to try, that one not so yummy taro drink wasn't enough to turn me off from the place.
I later went back with my sister and cousin and we had the Mango snow ice with mango and lychee boba and the crab claws. I do like how you can order more than drinks at this boba place and their are a nice variety of snacks to choose from. I think this is what is going to make this boba place stand out in my mind. The mango snow ice tasted so yummy and the crab claws were crispy and soft.
The employees are very polite and willing to explain the menu to you. They were also kind enough to give us three extra plastic cups so my sister, cousin, and I could split the large mango snow ice. The music is great, I actually recognized a few songs as I was eating my food, which I enjoyed because I usually don't recognize music stores play. I will admit the tables weren't bussed very well the 2nd time I went, which was a bit disappointing since there wasn't many people in the store, I do think that could be improved. The aesthetic of the store overall is very cute and has...
Read moreThe winds are blowing ever so slightly. The blazing hot sun glaring down upon my pale, lifeless skin, tanning it like a wandering trader that had forgotten his sunscreen while traveling for days in the desert looking for a source of hydration. The wordings above describe the exact scenario that I was in one unbearable Texas afternoon heat. Seng Seng Cafe had called for my name upon the heatwaves thus I presented myself to order a classic Seng Seng Milk Tea. To my utmost surprise, the drink was served in a blink of an eye or maybe I was just severely dehydrated. Nevertheless, I proceeded to inhale the drink through my oral cavity with some leaking through the nasal, but let’s not elaborate on such. The drink was DELICIOUS. From the moment the black balls hit your mouth, following up with a splash of tea concentrated milk, and the softness of the flan that was at the bottom. Nothing could’ve better reminded me of the time that I was just a little boy enjoying his life without worrying about dirty calories that might come with ordering a second drink. Anywho, the drink was so good, I had to ask for the name of the lovely server who served me that mind blowing, breathtaking, inspiring, tantalizing, rip roaring, heart stopping drink. Genesis, if you’re reading this, you are the best at what you do because although it might’ve seemed like a typical order of milk tea to you, that was the most lifesaving, eye opening experience with a drink to me. Also, Genesis was super nice with reassuring me that a second order would not put me off track with my diet. 10/10 would...
Read moreThis is my FAVORITE boba shop; I’m here AT LEAST once a week. The baristas are all VERY friendly and sweet; some of them know me by name now lolol their customer service is a HUGE reason why I always come back to Seng Seng. I’ve gone to a few other nearby boba shops and I always end up back here because I feel welcomed, even when they’re really busy.
I’ve tried a lot of their drinks, from the Seng Seng Milk Tea, to Kumquat Green Tea, to their Brown Sugar Milk Tea (…and Thai tea, mango green tea, earl grey, matcha…) and they’re all delicious. I truly don’t have a favorite because they’re actually all really good in their own way; it ultimately comes down to what I’m craving that day! Their drinks are handshaken and for me, that’s usually the epitome of a quality boba tea drink. Personally, I think their drink sweetness is PERFECT. At other shops, I usually order 75% sweetness, but I order their drinks “as-is” at 100% sweetness here. Sooo good.
Their popcorn chicken is ALSO super amazing. It’s Taiwanese style so it’s seasoned really well, crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. 9 out of the 10 times I’m here for boba, I’m also here for the popcorn chicken. It’s almost embarrassing how often I come here.
OH! Their snow is also extremely refreshing! It’s shaved ice and I know that sounds like a raspado or nieve (I grew up in a Hispanic community and my husband is Mexican), but it’s a fluffier version of it! Melts in your mouth! I mean, I guess all ice cream does… but this is unique and totally worth a try if you haven’t...
