2021 - Update still the best in Springdale & Zion for delicious dinning experience for me dinner will always be at King's Landing if i'm in town!!!
This visit to Zion I tried the Menu in September before the fall menu. The food was wonderful I really enjoyed the carefully cooked and plated food here. The Chef's here really add their unique touch with their skills and efforts to bring more taste and flavor to their dishes and it's Umami like no where else. Even in these tough pandemic times with limitations all the dishes were still top Quality and Taste I was shocked since in California many spots have become a bit sub par to nicely put it. If you like seafood I highly reccomend the Swordfish! Creme Brule too!!
2019-This is quite a delayed review from my short vacation at Zion national park during October but one of the things I enjoyed most was dinning here at King's Landing Bistro it is like a hidden gem close to the entrance of Springdale make sure not to miss out! The aptmosphere is very comforting and has an amazing view out back especially during the sunset! Every single dish ordered is a masterpiece of it's own and very creatively plated an admirable work of fine food art!
I was able to dine here 3 times during my vacation and the quality of the food and also the service is top notch every single time. This is my favorite spot for dinner in Springdale hands down you don't have to ask me twice about it. I also got to love the wine, cocktails that were very well mixed, and also I enjoyed the sour beer from Zion which was my favorite for beers and cheers to those who enjoy the drinks Perfect for wine and dine while watching the sunset
Coming from the bay area in California I was amazed at the price here for such a great sit in dinning experience with way higher quality food and ingredients and great seasoned and flavorful dishes that just puts this spot on. It cost me less to dine here than a chain resturant serving mediocre quality food I can't be happier than that!
Now talking about the food the salads here were very well balanced. If the butternut squash soup with duck confit is in season it is a must have very rich buttery flavor from the butternut squash combined with the savory of the duck confit and the slight sweet and sour of the pomegranate is just a wow! -For starters I enjoyed the Charcuterie & cheese that was pretty good along with the charred spanish octopus if you like your seafood. I did forget to take pictures of the beef tartare but if you like that dish I would definitely reccomend it just delicious and paired with any drink you can not go wrong. -For the meats they were all cooked to perfection from the chicken, pork, beef and bison all the meats were full of flavor still tender and juicy and the steaks and burgers to the perfect medium rare asides from my beef it was just like I requested a bit on the rare side just lovely! by the time me and my mom got done with with the meats it would be only bone left so i guess its Bone Appetite! -Last but not least you always have to have room for dessert! The desserts here will surely satisfy your cravings after the main course my personal favorite would be the the Peach&Blueberry crisp it comes out nice and hot with vanilla ice cream on top scoop your spoon through the creamy vanilla ice cream, crunchy oatmeal crumble and hot fruity peaches and blueberries. You will just get lost in this perfect combination of sweet yet creamy, hot yet cold, and soft with a crunch in it! I swear words cant do it enough justice you just have to try it for yourself and get lost in the deliciousness! Hey don't mind me if I go for round 2 for dessert if its this good!
If you come to Springdale and Zion National park I hope this review helps you enjoy your vacation to its best especially if you are a foodie or you are just looking for a great tasting and amazing dinning experience! Thank you to the chef's and all of the staff at King's Landing Bistro for the great experience I hope to enjoy another vacation here again soon. To all Happy holidays and a...
Read moreWe have come to Springdale three times in the last ten years. We love Zion National Park. We know dining options are limited. If you just want some thing to fill your belly and feel like paying extra to get it. This is the place. The food is Mediocre at best. Food was edible and nothing to write home about; however, two of the nine dishes were undercooked. Flavors were standard. Nothing special. The medium rare ribeye special was half rare and half medium. Must have been a cold spot on grill. A kids salmon was nearly raw in the middle. The server never came back to check on our food so we had to eat it anyway.
Not sure if the server was new or just overextended with tables but Ida (the server) turned the whole ordeal into a two and a half hour affair. She did have to deal with the electronic ordering system that doesn't allow for much flexibility, which is not her fault. But . . .
The service left much to be desired. Service was not attentive to the group and did not have a good command of the dishes or specials. Timing of the course and food was very disjointed. It seemed as if everyone had to be done with their food before the next course was requested. There were several 15-20 minute periods where there was no food or drink was on the table. Other than seeing the server at the beginning and taking orders she was absent. Even taking the payment as difficult. She never came back and I had to walk to the bar to give the credit card.
No back to their order payment system. First, I do not mind paying twenty percent tip at all. If people earn it. My pet peeve is when servers don't work for tip is there is a policy of included gratuity of 20%. I definitely feel like because this was a guaranteed gratuity the service suffered. When asking the manager to drop the amount to 18% (frankly very generous for the service and undercooked food--I was understanding we did have a party of 9 and five of them kids) they could not because the electronic system that didn't allow the server to take orders except a specific certain way in the beginning did not allow them flexibility to change the tip amount. It was truly automatic and unchangable. At this point I had two kids (2 and 4 years old) fighting each other and another whining so we just needed to pay and get out of there. So they got our twenty percent. We didn't have time to wait for the manager to contact the owner and see what they could do. It was 9:30 pm at that point. Looking around all tables around us also didn't have their food yet from their orders either.
It seems this place is trying to survive on fleecing tourists. Because they are right, they get the money from the first timers because they likely won't be back, and I won't be back but won't be back for several more years. Didn't seem there were many locals in the place. If that matters.
At any other medium sized town this restaurant wouldn't survive. But because Springdale doesn't have many dining options it may though the restaurants at this address have not faired well even in Springdale. This our third time back and this is the third different restaurant at this address. there may be a reason. So far no one has understood how to put it together to get a long lasting establishment here. Unless they can get the food service more efficient and friendly and attentive, and get the cook line able to consistently get the food out efficiently this place will likely suffer the fate of the previous two restaurants at...
Read moreI experienced terrible service here and eventually walked out of the restaurant without ordering food.
Upon arrival, I asked for outdoor seating. The hostess said the patio was full but said the dining room was open. I said I'd prefer outdoor and I'm willing to wait. Her response was that the outdoor wait was so long that it wasn't an option. I stepped outside the entrance to verify with my friend who was waiting outside, if she was okay with the dining room, she was and we came back in and were seated in the dining room.
As we waited to be seated, the couple who was in line behind me were being told the same thing about outdoor seating. However ten minutes later, we noticed that couple seated outside, and had received their drinks and appetizers while we still sat there still waiting waiting to order. The final straw was a group seated after us in the dining room then got moved to a table outside.
I highly recommend going to bit and spur across the street. They were fantastic.
Update: Thank you for your generic reply. You clearly didn't read my above experience since your response is putting all the blame on the CDC restrictions. As I said told the hostess, I was happy to wait. She said it WAS NOT an option. If it wasn't an option, why did 2 groups after me both get seated outside?
I did review your service. We sat in the dining room, waiting to order for 20 minutes. Again, the couple behind me in line who got seated on the patio had drinks and apps on their table, before we had a waitress come to take our order. That shows poor service in my opinion. I guess, if you want to split hairs, you can say this isn't a review on service because no one served us. So this is a review of complete...
