First, I want to acknowledge that the staff here are very friendly, and the rooms and view are very nice.I feel compelled to share my frustrations just to notify my experiance to someone wanting to booking right now. I chose this hotel based on the great reviews and appealing images, and I booked two rooms. One for my family and one for my parents, who are visiting from Korea. However, upon arrival, we were shocked to discover that major renovations were taking place. Instead of being checked into the hotel, we were welcomed to a white trailer. We were not informed about the ongoing construction, and many of the amenities we had expected, such as common areas, and dining area for breakfast, were unavailable. After settling in and going out to dinner, my wife and I decided that we wanted a better experience for our family vacation. We approached the front desk to inquire about switching to another hotel, and the staff was understanding. They mentioned that the manager was being lenient due to the construction, so we ended up booking a room at a different hotel and checked out of the holiday inn within an hour.
The following day, the manager informed me that we were being charged for both rooms because we had sat on the bed (the sheets were completely tucked in, and we only sat on them) and we had used the bathroom ( my kids didn’t take a shower or anything. She simply used the toilet). While we were refunded for the second night, it was incredibly frustrating to lose $280 for a night we didn't even sleep in, and left in great condition.
I’m hoping to resolve this matter with management, but I wanted to share my experience and express frustration with this review.
Edit, Looks like they will not refund the room, which is fine. However, please note that the entire property is undergoing renovation, so I wouldn't recommend staying here until the construction is finished. We opted for the Hampton Inn next door, and it turned out to be a great choice. The lobby is welcoming and relaxing, and they offer a full breakfast buffet which is nicer than a togo bag to eat...
Read moreProbably one of the best hotels I've stayed in! The view is superb, absolutely perfect view of the peaks around the canyon. The setting is perfect for relaxing, lots of windows facing the view, a fire pit, and heated pool and hot tub. We stayed in late October and the pool was warm enough to swim in (coming from someone who doesn't like cold pools).
The breakfast is delicious and a few steps above standard continent breakfast, best of all FREE (included with your booking). They had numerous protein options, Greek yogurt, a variety of breads, juices, including biscuits/gravy, scrambled eggs, premade omelets, and sausage that rotates throughout the stay. Oh and a pancake machine my toddler loved! My husband, myself and 2.5 year old were happy with the options everyday for a week. Everything tasted great! And the hotel breakfast attendants were so friendly, helpful and attentive-jumping right in before the items needed refilled and cleaning the tables as soon as someone was finished with breakfast.
The front desk workers were so helpful and friendly. They greeted us with a smile and welcome as we passed through the lobby. One of them, who I wish I could remember her name (Friday the 25th morning), was especially sweet and we appreciated her kindness towards our toddler. They even grabbed us some plates and plastic silverware for the dinner we brought back to eat at the hotel in the back deck.
The beds were comfy. They had the crib ready for us. They had both firm and soft pillows, which I truly appreciated. Towels and linens were clean and room looked fresh and relaxing (we had just the basic room). It was really nice that we had a fridge and microwave in our room.
Super convenient that the shuttle line is right nearby. Was a perfect starting off point to explore Springdale and Zion and we'd stay here again in...
Read moreBED BUGS!!! The hotel is an average 3-star place that wouldn't be anything particularly special if not for the gorgeous views that are in every direction in Springdale. The rooms are kinda small but that's to be expected. However, on our third morning, I went to wake my daughter up and there were huge bed bugs running all over her pillow. I immediately got her out of bed and into the shower with my wife while I went to the front desk. The employee there was sympathetic and promised they'd escalate it immediately. That's where things pretty much fell off. While prepping for the day in Zion, my wife noticed bites all over her legs and I had them on my side. Upon our return, I stopped by the front desk upon our return to be told they "ionized" our room and did a deep clean. However, the room appeared to have undergone a standard cleaning. We trusted things were taken care of but on our last day, my wife and our daughter both were experiencing new bites. Not once did anyone from management take the time to reach out and address concerns but they did pass along that we could file a claim with Costco Travel, beyond that they were utterly dismissive. Six months later, Costco Travel has finally reviewed my claim (the timing not the hotels' fault) and the hotel has offered to refund half of the nearly $2000 stay but refuses to acknowledge that there were bed bugs present, despite the photos and physical evidence provided (I literally sat a dead one on the front desk) and they stated they could have come from anywhere. Bed bugs happen, and they happen in nice hotels too. However, exposing guests to parasites and failing to take effective or meaningful action is a great way to ruin a family vacation. If you are planning a trip to Zion,...
