I was really disappointed with Shelby Lynn's. We've ordered petits fours from them before, which were very good, but the last experience I had there was absolutely horrible. After emailing, calling, and visiting the shop (when I only had 45 minutes of free time between jobs) I wasn't able to be helped until I went in the second time, after calling 3 hours beforehand to make sure that someone would be there to talk to me about my wedding cake. I had been trying to give them my business, because I knew how good they were, for 3 days before someone FINALLY was able to talk to me. I had told them over the phone, and when I was in the shop the first time, that I had a family member making cupcakes for me for my wedding. (My cousin, who is 13 years old, is quite the little baker, and I was wanting her to make some cupcakes for me.) The point is that I had mentioned this before and no one at the shop had said anything. Finally, I changed around MY OWN schedule so that I could go to the shop and speak with someone about a cake. I walk in and talk with someone who I assume is the cake decorator and she proceeds to tell me that she cannot make my wedding cake for me since someone else is already making me cupcakes. I told her it was a family member and she did not care. She had an attitude and seemed offended that I didn't come to them and ask them to make the cupcakes. I asked if she'd even be able to make a small two tiered cake for about 20 people and she just plainly said, "No. Sorry." I was humiliated in front of the other customer there, and I walked out on the verge of tears. I tried to give them my business for three days only to have them throw it back in my face. Needless to say, I won't be going back there, and I will most definitely not recommend them to anyone in the future. I am utterly disappointed with their carelessness towards their customers, and their snobby attitude. They should not act like they are doing you a favor by making you one of their cakes. They should be honored that you chose...
Read moreWe got our wedding cakes from Shelby Lynns, and the main cake was great - this is why I am giving two stars instead of just one.
The reason this is a negative review is that they never delivered our groom cake. My wife got a very custom cake made for the groom's cake, and told several people about it - it was one of the few things she was most looking forward to about the entire wedding. We sat there throughout the reception, as she got more and more upset that the cake wasn't present, and couldn't be located.
Shelby Lynns admitted that they messed up and didn't deliver the cake, but did almost nothing to make it right. They offered to refund the price of the groom cake, but this is literally the absolute minimum they COULD do - we never got the cake, after all, so a refund is literally their legal responsibility. But they offered us nothing else, to make up for causing disappointment, distraction and distress on what was one of the most important days of our lives. I could not believe that a professional business made no real attempt to make right such a huge mistake.
We will never get this back. We're not going to have another wedding. The one wedding we had, we had to deal with not getting our cake we paid for, that my wife was eagerly anticipating, and which she had told several people to look forward to. And no effort was made to prove that they care about our business, or about our satisfaction with their work.
This was a major, major miss on their part, and they will not receive our business in the future, and we will recommend that others use...
Read moreWhen our newly engaged couple wondered about arranging a cake, Mom came out to Arkansas from Arizona to help with arrangements. We searched online for a small, local bakery and found Shelby Lynn. We went to the store to make the arrangement and were amazed at the dedication, creativity and professionalism shown by Shelby Lynn. She asked pertinent questions about the engaged couple's wants, needs and background. Our couple had gotten engaged during the total eclipse, so Shelby Lynn sketched a concept based on that story. This bakery makes every aspect of the cake, right down to filling, from scratch, in house. Every cake type we tasted was phenomenal! Ultimately we chose a layer cake with carrot, white, and chocolate. The filling on the white cake was lemon-raspberry (i.e. "hummingbird") and Oreo filling on the chocolate cake. She even provided a gluten free cake because we had several gluten intolerant guests. Then, to make things even better, they delivered the cake, safe and sound, in one piece, to the ONSC, and you know that is one long, bumpy road. The delivery person was delightful and helpful, and Shelby-Lynn even loaned us a cake plate! It was a...
