Never been to a Moe's before, so gave it a try on a recent late night dinner stop to check out the new place in town. Walked in at 8:45pm, and they close at 9pm. Understanding I am near the end of the day, so not sure what to expect. Did not get the Moe's cheer upon entering (as other reviewers mentioned happening to them), but that's not a big deal. Had a chicken burrito which was stuffed full of good stuff (rice, beans, peppers, onions, guac, mushrooms, etc.....) Tasted very good. Also enjoyed their salsa bar with 5-6 different flavors of salsa. Was particularly fond of their cucumber mojito salsa which had a very unique combination of flavors. So the food was good, but there's where the good experience ends. Service & cleanliness was poor, at best. As luck would have it, within about 5 minutes of my arrival, about 6-8 others also showed up, so there was a small line. But they only had 1 guy making food for everyone. There were other employees there, who seemed more interested in tearing things down for the night & cleaning things up, or some were just milling around the place trying to look busy. If I were managing this location, I would have asked 1-2 employees to change up and help customers, to get them serviced quicker, and then go back to cleaning up. But apparently, that's just me. Also, after getting my food, filling up my drink and serving up several different salsa flavors from their salsa bar, I walked the entire dining area to find a clean table to use, but none were available. Lots of unused tables, but all of them looked like they had not been wiped down since opening time in the morning. There was an employee walking around in the dining area, and he picked up napkins or cups that had been left behind, but he did not seem to notice the big food spills that pretty much covered every table in the joint. Finally, I picked the cleanest one, wiped it down with some napkins and then ate my dinner trying to keep all of the food on the tray they had given me. Not an enjoyable experience. For burritos, there are lots of other options in the area (Chipotle's, Qdoba's, Mexitaly, Roburritos, etc....), so next time, I'll go...
Read moreMoe's Southwest Grill is the only "Mexican" food restaurant within a 30 mile radius of York that we have not tried in the past 3 years since we moved here from southern California, a bastion of Mexican cuisine. We did not find many if any good qualities at Moe's Southwest Grill. Came in here looking forward to trying their Homewrecker steak burrito. Right off the bat I'm told that they have no Pico DeGallo and no cilantro. WHAT? How can you not have these items at 2 o'clock in the afternoon? Both the Weis and Giant grocery stores are 1/2 mile down the street. Forget the official Moe's delivery truck that might show up 5 days from now and send an employee to the produce department to get what you need! The tortilla of my burrito was cold and cracked because it was not warmed on the grill prior to creating my buritto, and the filling kept squeezing out of the bigger cracks. The beef steak pieces were tough & chewy as if they had been sitting on a warmer for many hours just getting more & more overcooked, and the beef steak pieces did not have good beef flavor. The salsa verde tasted quite bland and did not have the tastiness and zest of oven roasted tomatillos and poblano chilis, just liquified green tomatoes. The roja salsa was just as bland with no distinct flavors of garlic, cilantro, onions, or jalapeno peppers. The tortilla chips that we were given tasted stale and flat, certainly not made from fresh fried tortillas. The two servers were fairly clueless and had to discuss with each other how to prepare our food. The personality of one of the servers came across as being frustrated that we were in the restaurant ordering food in the middle of the afternoon and she had something else she would rather be doing. As we walked to a table in the dining area we were surprised to see trash and drink stains on the floor. My wife chose the cleaned available table but we still needed to wipe it down before we ate our meal. And when I slid into the booth I realized that the back cushion was broken. All in all our dining experience at Moe's Southwest Grill was a big...
Read moreWe frequent Moes and we are pretty easy going as we both worked in the food industry and understand how it goes. Our last trip was a bit disappointing, 7pm on a Monday and we were told we couldn’t get steak (didn’t want to prep more) or rice options (only white). Okay fine it happens. 3 employees stood off to the side while a new guy (on his 4th day) struggled by himself.
Once we got our order and got home we realized we never received the cups of queso we ordered, unfortunately I’m not loading a toddler up to go back and ask for queso, and to be fair i don’t think the staff working this evening would care too much as is. Love Moes but this turned us off for awhile, I should have known when we didn’t get the “welcome to moes” when we walked in (my child was very disappointed by this part)
Seems like this location is hit or miss
UPDATE: seemed like management had made some positive changes for a little bit, but the last month it’s back to the same old with this location. We have stopped a few times over the last say 3 months and it’s been 0% good.
They are either always out of any and all product or your order was missed and never started etc. And then you are told it’ll be 30 minutes for chicken and another 15 minutes for… queso.
I would just skip, and go anywhere...
