Update: The duck is absolutely fantastic 💫 The Chinese 5 Spice shine through with extraordinary colors!!!!! Get ya some ;) Highly recommend the egg drop soup 🍜 You can definitely tell it is made in house. It is so light and airy with the perfect texture. The owners are from Vietnam and give a great authentic spin. Do you like a Cherry limeade without all the calories???? Try the Cherry 🍒 Lime soda water, super yummy! Everything else was good for the price. We had the Szechuan Chicken “traditional style” had amazing bites of fresh ginger which I love! We had the Egg Foo Young with Chicken which was good, next time I would do sauce on the side so it stays crispy. The Hot & Sour Soup was good, but I am spoiled to the flavor of Leong’s Asian Dinner Hot & Sour Soup, but it was still much better than your standard run of the mill Chinese places here in Springfield. We had the Salt & Pepper Jalapeño Pork and my wife loved it. I thought the breading was a little thick, but for the price of only $9.95 how can I complain??? The crab Rangoon was what you would expect and the potstickers were super delicious. We wanted the duck but they were out tonight, I get that because it is a specialty dish. Can’t wait to go back again and try it. They also do steamed buns from time to time so it is hit and miss. I will keep checking! All in all I would recommend trying this little spot out. They do not serve any type of alcohol, but I imagined they would let you bring in your own beer or wine. My highest recommendation…….get the “Egg Drop Soup”!!!!

Beautiful Chinese restaurant with a Beautiful atmosphere in the Beautiful neighborhood of Chesterfield Village in the Beautiful Southside of Springfield! I enjoyed a divine dinner here with Mom before I went bowling tonight. When we walked through the back door, I noticed unusually narrow booths, each side only appearing enough to fit one person. Their unusual appearance is why I selected to sit at one of them. Their location within the empty back side contrasted against the Beautiful scenic view of Chesterfield Village from the front side. I love the scenery of Chesterfield Village, which is why I sat on the side toward the booths to provide me pictures of myself dining here with the scenic view behind me. And every bit as much, great food here! I ordered the Springfield-style cashew chicken to be local--after all, Springfield, Missouri, is the birthplace of cashew chicken! It was as good as the cashew chicken at any other Chinese restaurant in the Ozarks where I ate it. All of these things make Bao Bao an excellent example of the several different restaurants only a short walk away from Chesterfield Lofts and Chesterfield Village Apartments. So if I was to move to one of those apartments in the near future and this restaurant was to stay open, then I would undoubtedly enjoy my life there for the opportunity to occasionally dine in that restaurant.

This was a very bizarre experience. The food did not taste very good. The lo mein was the most off-putting flavor I've ever had. I struggle to even describe it. Overall, the flavors were unusual. My duck was very dry and the star anise flavor was overwhelming strong. My biggest issue was our waitress hovering over us, telling my daughter not to put salt and pepper on things, watching to see if she eats, and even grabbed her wrist to stop her from putting salt on something. Because I do reviews, I do not make a scene and remain professional. This crossed a lot of lines. Never touch a child. I assure you, most parents are as patient as I am when I am with my daughter. Do not tell my kid or myself how to eat the food or how to season it. Trust me here- Bao Bao doesn't know much about proper seasoning. The final straw was the waitress pretty much watching if I was going to tip. I do not like being watched or hovered over. The reason your restaurant is empty is explained above ^

This unique Chinese dining experience is currently offering in location dining as well as call in take out orders. I have not tried the intestines because something in my head makes it very hard for me to eat that but I'm sure that they are surprisingly delicious. When you go to Bao Bao do yourself the favor of ordering something that you normally would not order and get ready for a delicious surprise. I got the black bean clams last time I was there and they were amazing. This restaurant offers something a little different than your typical Chinese Fair. I think the next thing I'm going to order will be the lion's head meatballs I'm so curious about them and I know it's just going to be a explosion of deliciousness in my mouth. I normally get the brown sugar soy pork belly which is like delicious bacon tasting morsels in a thick, sweet soy sauce. The oil fish is delicious. I just can't go on enough about this place. It's really affordable too and somewhat exotic if you ask me. When you're in the mood for something different, affordable, and delectable, check it out. You will not be...
