I was very impressed by the photos of the burgers here, so my expectations were pretty high. We went to the Chesterfield location because the one on Walnut is not in an area of town I feel comfortable in.
The restaurant is smallish, and when you walk in, there is a bar straight ahead. You can choose to sit there, or out on the main floor, or even outside on the patio! We sat in a booth in the far corner. At first it seemed kind of loud, but they were playing great music so it was tolerable, it's definitely not a place for quiet conversation.
Their selection of burgers made it challenging to choose which one to try, but I finally settled on The Blues Brothers. My husband ordered the Don't Go Bacon My Heart, and we ordered the Smoked Fries with a little platter of all the dipping sauces. We both ordered house-made sweet tea, which was not overly sweetened.
The fries were brought first so they sort of served as more of an appetizer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the smoked fries. OMG. You really don't even need to dip them in anything!!!
The burgers were top notch. Sometimes you bite into a burger and that first bite just explodes with flavor, but then as you consume the rest of your burger the taste profile fades by the time you get to that last bite. NOT SO WITH THESE BURGERS!!! After that first bite, every bite until the last one was a shade of the taste profile, but just as explosively flavorful as the first.
Service was fantastic, Natalie was very helpful with order suggestions; she was very attentive and checked on us often, but not so much that we thought we should invite her to join us 😏
Lastly, I included a photo of our ticket because I couldn't believe that for the quality and taste of our food, the cost was absolutely reasonable.
We will most definitely be back, and it will be difficult to decide whether I want a repeat order, or if I want to try something new... Or maybe I just want a milkshake for dinner!!!
Guys. Go eat here. It's literally so amazing, I can't say...
Read moreWas seated and received a small glass pitcher of water right away. I ordered the Light my fire burger. Delicious with a hint of spice. Came to the table quickly. I also ordered the Truffle'n Parmesan fries and a Strawberry Fields forever shake. The fries were fresh and crispy, and the shake was thick and had a tasty piece of cake in the middle of it. I had the option to add alcohol, and it sounded fun, but I was driving so I declined. I received a tray of one oz. sauce/dipping cups. Pretty sure there is a truffle, garlic aioli, spicy ketchup, ranch and a BBQ (I'm probably forgetting some, but you get the idea) My server was a bright, friendly and super attentive blond girl who fussed over me just the right amount. All the staff wore rock and roll T-shirts and the music was classic rock in the background. You're probably wondering why I didn't give it five stars. Well, my table was sticky. I hate that so much. It's ALMOST my biggest pet peeve in places like this. Maybe it's the finish on the tables, or how they clean them, I dunno but when I sit down and my arms are resting on that tacky micro goo that makes me feel gross. The second thing I hated, AND MY NUMBER ONE PET PEEVE was the friggin flies all over that restaurant. They were attacking my food and everyone else's, the staff were clearly annoyed by them. They were landing on my arms and face the whole time, and that just ruins it for me. Maybe I'm a big baby, but that's just how I'm built. None of this was my waitress's fault. This is a management thing in my opinion. The little things matter. Good food and service, but the third world atmosphere left me ready...

After several weeks of being on the hunt for a great hamburger, I was informed by several local residents that Black Sheep Burger was the place that would satisfy my hunger. So, I took on the challenge. I went to the shop downtown and with luck on my side, snagged a small table. Proper social distancing was in place, which accounted for the shortage of tables. Masks were being worn by the staff. The décor is urban in style; exposed brick and beams, tan booth seating and green high-top tables. Rock and roll played overhead as some of the cooks were heard singing along. My waiter Ben was an on point great server. I found out later that it was only his second week working at Black Sheep. He knew the menu like a pro and worked the room as such. I asked Ben for his suggestion on which burger I should try and he offered the Born in the USA. The double 4 oz. patties with America cheese, chopped smoked bacon, peppadew peppers and smoky roasted garlic mayo was a delicious sight. A tasty, moist and delicious enjoyment for sure. I wasn’t disappointed. Along with my burger I added an order of sea salt and pepper fries. It was a great meal all around although I could only eat half of it. This wasn’t a contest, just a chance to enjoy a great burger. The meal also comes with a delicious side of sauces; chipotle, honey mustard, truffle mayo for example, for your French fry enjoyment. Overall: I will visit Black Sheep Burger again in the future thanks to the fine service I had on my...
