Was once very impressed with the food and atmosphere...over the last couple of years I have been more aggrevated and less impressed... the consistency of the jambalaya <probably one of my favorite dishes for any meal > is far from that.. I am at this moment chocking down the most greasey dirty rice with grilled chicken and sausage on top with 2 shrimp... this is a side order...ordered it spicy.... my wife ordered a side of dirty rice not spicy....the only difference between her dirty rice and my jambalaya was the couple pieces of chicken and 2 shrimp thrown on top... mine was not spicy hot...the last several times we have ordered take out for dinner the jambalaya was better not much better: although the large order had 2 shrimp.. and wasn't much more, size wise, than the side I ordered tonight.<which had 2 shrimp>. The owners are very hospitable when we have dined in...it is only a few blocks from my house and unfortunately the only "cajun" claiming vendor our town has to offer besides that horrible place by the mall... gtfoh..the roast beef po boy is amazing and should have been what I ordered this evening but I shook the dice once again on receiving that good ol jambalaya from years past... just ain't the same. Don't be afraid to try other menu items because of this review. The gumbo is excellent and consistent. When they have fried gator tail the breading and seasoning is on point... it's along drive to Louisiana for some jambalaya and I have thought many times of granting this town another option for Southern and Cajun food....but I digress.. Longing for the good ol days and not feeling like I got ripped off.. take your chances at the jambalaya if you wish... hope it's right what your looking for.. tonight and the last several times it has been disappointing more than nostalgic or comforting..Raised the price and dropped the quality and consistency...please let us know when the good batches are back.. Just read the response from the supposed owner... And help me out here anyone who has had fried gator at this Big easy Grill? Not a menu item. But I can guarantee you I have spent at least $50 if not closer to $100 on fried gator bites in years past.. not sure if the owners are saying they didn't sell fried gator tail or fried gator bites.,? Unless in truth they had claimed to have it and was selling turtle meat instead.. own it people.. your jambalaya has gone down hill.. stingy with the shrimp. And consistency maybe begetting consistently worse.. sad.. I've been loving this place and urging friends and family to try this place since they was a small hole in the wall tiny place over here across from oriellys auto on east sunshine...

Calling this place a restaurant is bad enough, but calling it cajun seems criminal. Without question the most flavorless food I've ever had, but as its for the notoriously bland Midwestern palate its not surprising. The table had catfish, red beans and andouille, and seafood gumbo. Catfish was battered in a flavorless batter, served with coleslaw which had nothing beyond the mayonnaise base, and sweet potato fries which were somehow not even cooked consistently. I found the gumbo to be more filé water than gumbo. It clearly had no roux, was a horrible green color (what first alerted me to the presence of filé ), and was flavorless beyond the filé. Absolutely the worst by far was the red beans and andouille. The beans looked like they were straight from a can, and were congealed on the plate in an unappetizing blob. They tasted like nothing at all, which lead to the discovery the hot sauce in bottles at every table was Frank's buffalo sauce. The cherry on top of the plate was the andouille, which turned out to be nothing more than basic smoked sausage. This food is an abomination.

1st time here. Service was a little slow at first. I stood there for around 5 mins before anyone noticed me . Cooks looked and me and turned around . 1 lady seated me and seemed like she wasn’t happy to be there and another Waitress Grace) seemed busy as she had a large group in the back ,But was happy to help me and take my order. Had the seafood gumbo. I’ve had better and I’ve had worse but over all It was delicious. I think for me it needed some spice. Which I overheard a few other customers order theirs medium to extra spicy. Fried pickles were ok. A little over cooked. And seemed to have a sweet taste. Which thru me off . Crispy texture and still Good but different. The gumbo was served with slices of a French bread, crispy top and soft in the middle Over all good food and good atmosphere. I will be back. As most other patrons was ordering the Dirty Jambalaya and or crawfish Etouffee which sounds delicious.

I checked the reviews for this place before we went and made note of the negative reviews to get a gauge on what I was looking for, and some of them just do not make sense. Y'all, sometimes you gotta ask your server what they recommend or how to amp a dish up just a little. You are in the middle of Bible Belt, USA. Everyone here eats cheeseburgers, chicken strips, and pizza, so restaurants need to be careful with how much KICK they put into something.

My buddy Blake mentioned he had some family that owned a cajun restaurant he used to work at, so when I came to hang out I made him show me where it was. I am perpetually seeking any and all things flavorful and hot.

I got the crawfish etouffee, SPICY.

Absolutely DELICIOUS.

Perfect rice, great texture crawfish that weren't overcooked, a delicious delicious sauce that, made spicy, had me sweating within two bites. THAT is what I was looking for. This is the kind of place where you spend $14 for a portion of crawfish etouffee and you absolutely will have leftovers for later.

Oh also fried green tomatoes that I saw being cut up fresh in the back. I don't think I've been to a restaurant that had those made to order in a long while. The kitchen area is open and completely visible from the front of house, so I actually watched him get the tomato and cut it up. Insanely tasty remoulade that had a very distinct spicy mustard vibe. I waited to eat them for about 10 minutes because I was driving but I caught them riiiight before they weren't crispy anymore. Very good. Even better with that...

Ridiculously disappointed in the service. Staff members were totally flummoxed by a new computer system, leading to mixed-up orders and ridiculously long waits, but the biggest issue was the staff's total lack of apology or attempt to rectify problematic situations.

We had gotten a recommendation from friends and went twice during our visit, thinking the disaster of the first time must have been a fluke.

On our first visit, our take-out order was completely mixed up and even when we noticed and came back in the restaurant to have it fixed, we still did not get what we ordered. There was also no effort to give any type of apology.

Still, our friends like your restaurant so much that we decided to pick up a gift card on our way out of town, to thank our friends for letting us stay with them.

It was absolutely ridiculous how unaware any of the staff was in how to work an apparently new computer system. It took close to 10 minutes to get money loaded on the card. Then, when I went to pay for it, every attempt was charging me tax on the amount I had loaded on the card.

The staff member was making phone calls trying to figure out the system. I even went and got exact cash from my car to pay for it, which was fully ignored as the staff member remained on the phone.

When I finally, after 15-20 minutes of this whole experience, decided to walk away without the gift card, no staff member called out after me or offered any kind of apology.

The food was good but no food is worth that kind...
