Our server hayley, was great. She was doing her best with what she had. The manager however, absolutely horrible. Jordan day shift manager a petite person with a cover on her arm, i assume to cover tattoos. Just putting that in there so there isnt a confusion as to which person im referring to incase another jordan works there. However. Jordan would rather bark orders, tell her server that she has an expectation that is not being upheld. All while the server has every table in the entire place, taking orders, getting drinks, and helping the cook. While jordan, was running dishes (that were not necessary to be done), and micro managing hayley. By the end of our visit jordan ended up taking 2 fresh tables (a single person and two people) while hayley was trying to bit her tongue to not get in trouble, and get it together to be able to breathe. By the end of it i let jordan know that she is by far the worst manager i have ever seen. She doesnt help her staff, and lets two entry level employees absolutely fail rather than stepping in to help until the very end. I was there for an HOUR and 15 minutes of this was eating burnt bacon that fell apart in my hand, having onion in my hashbrowns (when i didnt ask for them because i dont like onions). The only good thing on my plate were the eggs and the toast. I do not blame the server or the cook for this because clearly this wouldnt have happened had the manager actually been helping her staff. All the while the manager thought she could fix this by giving a 10% discount on our bill. We ended up paying 10% and what we originally planned to tip as the tip for our server. Over all i hope Jordan demoted so she can see what a good manager needs to be and act towards their serving staff. I mean, come on poor hayleys lip was chewed raw from stress and just trying to breathe and not talk back to the obvious attitude her manager had...
Read moreI cannot recommend this particular Waffle House. Every other Waffle House I have ever been to has been excellent..and I have eaten at plenty of them across the country. Problem with this location is that they do not offer to-go a majority of the time. The first time I was turned away I was told that because they only had one person on the clock to wait on customers that they were not offering to-go food at that time. Seemed logical except for that there were only two people eating at the same table..no one else in the restaurant. Well ok.. So I go to the south location since we're set on Waffle House and find that there's only one waiter working and they're busy..I'm expecting to be sent back through the door. Nope..guy took my order, they made our food to-go.
Second time into this store and was told that very same thing..no to-go orders this evening. Again, like last time there were only two customers eating at the same table. Pretty much completely dead again.. As I sat in my vehicle pondering this I noticed the only visible waitress..doing nothing but staring at her phone. I love Waffle House..always have! But this is just silliness.
I'm thinking that from now on I will remember to go to the other Waffle House on the south side because even though after leaving this Waffle House and going to the other one which on both occasions also had only one server working and they were busy but still took my to-go orders anyway..hmmm. Five stars for the south...
Read moreI see all these great reviews and I wonder how this is even possible, but then I think, ah yes, Springfield. That explains it. I don't think these folks have ever eaten anywhere that quality food is served. I wanted to try it just to try it. Yes, it's cheap. Super cheap! And, if this is your only reference point, cheap food, and you've never eaten at a great breakfast spot, then I can see the sincerity of the rating. Me, I couldn't get it down. I wasn't alone. All of us walked out with the same conclusion, it's just bad food, and the cheapest grade everything money can buy. If you're all cracked up, you can't taste anything anyway. I ate less than half my breakfast and even the waffle was terrible. I guess it's a good place to people watch if you're into train wrecks at 2 AM, but for me, all other breakfast chains come above this. Every one! It's where the ladder starts. On the scale of one to ten, it's where zero begins. I gave it one star because at least it was missing a hair. Still, this is on par with how Springfield rates bad food overall. The city has some of the worst restaurants I've ever tried to eat through, and they all get high marks and I'm left wondering how that happens. I could open a can of Spaghetti-O's in this town and it would get four stars. I'm wondering if I should try the opposite ratings and see if there is such a thing as even worse food around here. Stay tuned. This is now...
