Buffet Review - Springfield 11 February 2023
Bad:
Parking is sketchy at best as it shares the small lot with a few other businesses.
Price for 1 adult was $19.13 which is high for a traditional buffet. I wasn't impressed initially walking in, but sometimes the food can make up for it. Unfortunately this wasn't the case.
The food looked unappealing, and the air smelled stale.
I tried the low mein noodles, and the fried rice....1/10
General Tso chicken was literally submerged in reddish water.....2/10
The infamous chicken on a stick...3/10
Beef and broccoli was not crunchy and clearly wasn't fresh....2/10
Fried Shrimp tasted like it came out of a box and was airfryed....4/10
Green bean snaps a staple in the traditional buffet setting was non existent which was disappointing.
The baked fish was dry, rubbery and tough with absolutely zero taste. I had to spit it out....1/10
Cleanliness:
The floors looked to be the only thing updated in this very outdated restaurant. Dust on several surfaces that can be easily seen sitting.
The tables were old, and needed to be replaced. I could literally scrape flakes off the table with my finger. I watched closely as the workers used a communal rag to clean tables.
I tried to figure out the method used to seat patrons, as I was seated close to buffet in a corner in which I politely asked to move to clean table in the same section where I could see everything.
The response I received was not a good one with the woman leading me mumbling something in a foreign tongue under her mask.
I asked for a Coke, and could tell immediately this was not Coke, and it wasn't Pepsi either. Nonetheless I didn't care enough to ask any questions.
Silverware was clean, and packaged well. If you're looking for somewhere to get full and or pass the time while out and about there I'd recommend that you explore other options with this place as the last name on your list.
I wanted my money back, and I felt cheated. I literally could have went to Panda Express across the street and gotten better food and service for half the price.
This is my 3rd visit here in 3 years, and each time seems to get worse.

Read moreWent two weekends in a row and this place is great. For the price ($18 weekend, $14-17 weekday) you can’t beat it. The food is fresh, HOT, and tastes good. The price includes a soda (or lemonade). The restaurant was FULL. Like there was a line to get in, so they must be doing something right. So the kitchen was constantly churning out fresh food to keep up with demand, which they handle beautifully. That’s why it’s all hot and fresh, but also they keep all the trays full. This place is run like an assembly line.
Regarding food, there are real high notes for the adults. The chicken skewers and roast pork are excellent. And they have fish, shrimp, seafood, squid, dumplings etc. And they have a high quality scoop-it-yourself vanilla ice cream which is the perfect end to the meal.
I was impressed with how perfectly cooked the squid was, and they have some Asian ube steamed buns that I’m a bit addicted to.
Some items are better than others and I think that’s because they are trying to accommodate families with small kids. Do there’s a few lackluster items like chicken nuggets, chuck-E-cheese style pizza, mashed potatoes, and pupusas.
And the employees are so genuinely nice. They greet you like you are family.
I’m honestly so shocked by any negative reviews. I haven’t tried it on a weekday, so I wonder if that is different, but I’ll definitely be giving it a shot soon.
The food was identical both weekends, so I’m going to list the items I remember, but there’s more: salad bar, fresh pineapple, fresh orange slices, garlic sautéed baby bok choy, steamed broccoli, salmon, other fish, lightly breaded fried squid, chicken quarters, chicken skewers, bread fried shrimp, chicken stuffed jalapeños, coconut shrimp, egg drop soup, sweet and sour soup, custom pho soup, custom hibachi, dumplings, lotus leaf wrap with glutinous rice, spinach and cheese dip, hot/warm water chestnut “cake” (really jello), ube bao (steamed buns), egg custard buns, fresh baked sweet rolls, vanilla ice cream. And more.
There were also some typical little Asian “cake bites”. I’m never really impressed with those anywhere so I...
