02/2325 Start off with this dumb menu board we walk all the way up just to see you the menu and at the counter young girl kept screaming at us I can take the next person I can take the next person there was no one behind us I kept telling her we're trying to read the menu board they are very pushy and I mean pushy at the counter there is no one behind us when there was someone that came in they were doing the same thing as we was trying to decipher the menu board the best thing for this place if it's going to stay there and succeed put some menus at the entrance , it took the three of us about 20 minutes I already knew what kind of meat I wanted when I came in finally we decided and the other lady took care of us every word that came out of my mouth was wrong she said it's loud I can't hear you I'm sorry but I can hear you clear evidently she had to be the ABC manager because people was coming to her while she was taking our order so she can fill a glass of wine or fill a glass of beer the pulled pork in my opinion was not good at all one of us had a pulled pork barbecue sandwich requested coleslaw on the side no sauce it came loaded with sauce and macaroni and cheese the next order was pulled pork and barbecue ribs with macaroni and cheese third one was pulled pork with ribs no sauce and french fries well when they called her name I went to walk up one of the employees that was sitting on eating with a father it look like you got up and try to serve her order caught him halfway in between and he gave us the food but the french fries was missing two orders had cornbread one did not which at the end I didn't know they all was supposed to come with cornbread or roll which we all would have asked for role anyway none of us really care for cornbread the macaroni and cheese is disgusting tastes like sofas right out of the giant frozen food section my daughter would need it nor with my wife my barbecue came was loaded sauce I ended up not eating it my daughter only ate part of her sandwich had way too much sauce on it I shared one of my ribs with her my wife ate her ribs and I ate mine the only thing that was good in the restaurant in my opinion was the ribs that we had because there was no sauce you could control what you wanted on it they could have been smoked a little longer the french fries which no one can really mess up I would not think but what is really aggravating to me is when we are sitting down and eating someone keeps coming to your table and trying to take a plate with what looks like trash on it and they did this twice the third time the guy just went ahead and grabbed it and when he did it had a napkin that we had covered over the meat and it flew off and landed on my plate on top of my ribs as I was eating he apologized but I told him just leave this stuff alone I was actually going to take to meat back up and show them how much sauce they actually put on it versus requesting no sauce I understand they try to keep the place clean and flowing but this is not like one of the American restaurants we constantly go to Mike's , Silverados, Artie's & Costal Flats and I've only ever had one issue at Silverados but I will tell you this much I have no plans I'm coming back to this place I have to spending close to $70 walking out hungry and very confused on the food that you're supposed to have and what they didn't have was upsetting my main attention was going for slice brisket which is barbecue all they had was shredded brisket I don't want that someone else can eat that that's leftovers I asked him about their sausage if they made it fresh and all the lady could tell me was they smoke it here and we serve it that doesn't say anything when Mike originally opened Mike's they were very blunt and about everything they were not scared to tell you where their product come from or what they serve but for this place to be an American restaurant I think they need to close it down clean it out and think about it and open it back up correctly

My wife, kids, and I are all big GAR fans, so we were dying to try this place, and it didn't disappoint. I am an avid griller and smoker, and as such I am a devotee of the great Jamie Purveyance who is a Weber chef. He admonishes neophytes to consider smoke a spice and to never overdo it. Stupid Good isn't stupid, and though the smoke taste is there, it isn't overpowering. I am reasonably sure they get their smoke from oak, and I am very sure it isnt mesquite or hickory. Those woods have distinctive, powerful flavors, and I didn't get that. What we did get in our pound of pork and pound of chicken was a subtle smokiness. The flavor gently accentuated the spices and flavor of the meats and made them even more sumptuous. It was 100 plus degrees on the day I went (we picked up),and so the family members dining( myself, 54m, my wife, 50f, my son, 16, and my younger daughter, 8) decided to go with the lighter Carolina vinegar sauce. It too was perfect: the vinegar was not overpowering and it didn't drown the meat. I look forward to trying the signature sauce when the weather gets a bit cooler, but the Carolina one really hit the spot. I didnt give this place 5 stars primarily for two reasons: 1. I got the housemade pickles and didnt like them at all. I wish the menu had stated that they weren't dill. I hate sweet pickles lol. 2. I had JUST gotten my car cleaned when I picked up the paper bag full of our food. I had about a 25 minute car ride home, and the steam ate through the paper. When I lifted the bag, all of the food spilled out onto the passenger seat of my Jeep. Luckily, the lids held or I would have lost the pork. As it was, my seat and floor mats took a bath. Why not plastic folks? Well done though.

No lunch crowd on this rainy day so I was able to walk right up to the counter and order a Brisket sandwich with Corn Bread side, and Shiner draft. Shiner was in my hand almost as soon as I was done paying, and I just enough time to ask an employee what the 6 six sauces were (more on that later) before my food was ready. Plating was very pleasant. The Brisket Sandwich, despite being $8 more than every other sandwich, was very good. Maybe toss some pickles in for free on the side? I like some pickles with my Brisket personally. Corn Bread was not my speed, but maybe NOVA people prefer this Cakey version? I would probably get a different side next time, but it was helpful for trying out the 6 different sauces. The Shiner Bock was fresh and cold. Okay, my impressions of the sauces: Kansas City:  Sweet n Tangy, little smokey, reminds me of Famous Dave's. Bourbon Peach:  Sweet n Sticky.  Milder than Kansas City Stupid Good:  A little Vinegary but sweet n sour, house sauce I suppose. Mustard Q: Mustardy as advertised.  Sort of like mixing a good Mustard with your standard BBQ sauce. Carolina: Spicy Vinegar with a bit of flavor, which I believe is how the Carolinas prefer their "Sauce". Brown Sugar:  Sweet and Smokey, probably the smokiest of the bunch. All in all I like it! I'm not a Supreme expert, but that was my impression having been to multiple BBQ joints in Texas in my life, and going to Dixie Bones down in Woodbridge pretty regularly. I'll definitely be back. Oh, and if anyone has read this far, I'll note the bathrooms are All Gender, which basically just means each of the two has a lock and a single sink and toilet. Nice lighting fixtures in them.

Photos??? Yeah I totally forgot about taking one of this platter, forgive me for that. I’ve walked past this spot a few times while making my sweat deposit at the planet fitness next door. And can you tell me how these PF’s always being placed in between good spots to eat? Drives me nuts and the product placement is insanely great lol.

The atmosphere is very Americana with wood, and country rustic vibes with contemporary country music playing so the theme is on point.

The team is friendly, courteous and knowledgeable when it comes to the craft of proper bbq and I love the hospitality.

As for the food…. You get what you pay for. Though they didn’t have sliced brisket, they had chopped brisket likely due to them selling out of that stupid good bbq brisket.

My wife got the pulled chicken bbq and was a bigger than your hands ordeal. She loved it with the KC bbq and the bourbon brown sugar. That sammy had no chance, just makes sure to have napkins on deck and a fork lol.

The chipped brisket was tender, juicy and flavorful, the smoked turkey is what thanksgiving turkey SHOULD be! It’s buttery throughout, great flavor crust and smoked to perfection, the grand finale…. Those ribs! Wow they are fall off the bone juicy deliciousness. I used the Texas trail bbq and stupid good bbq. Oh and by the way…. The corn bread…. MOIST, Sweet and delicious. I’m glad they portioned it to a point They want you coming back for more… i see you lol.. The collards were great, the green beans had good flavor and thick cut bacon and the mac and cheese was creamy Good.

The team was attentive asking if we were okay, they removed trays when they were empty and provided us with top notch service. So yeah 5 stars for this place. Friendly and...
