Giving this restaurant two stars as the service was excellent and the art décor was beautiful.
However, I came to this place to eat delicious Mexican food which was not provided. My food was a major disappointment as it lacked ethnicity and flavor.
The food was not very good. I ordered the Hawaiian quesadilla as an appetizer but was highly disappointed. The chicken quesadilla lacked seasoning as the chicken tasted bland and as if it was received from a can. The onions were not caramelized but stated in the menu it would be and the pineapple tasted a bit older. My meal was a huge disappointment - I ordered a chili relleno and beef enchilada which came with beans and rice, and strangely and offensively, coleslaw?!
I grew up with Mexican food as it is my comfort food and I am part Mexican. I grew up in Arizona and ate a lot of Mexican food often in the SW and SE regions of the USA. As a fond lover of genuine Mexican food, I can honestly state, coleslaw is not Mexican and I have NEVER seen it served as a garnish or side dish. This is a bit offensive and weird. Also, what Mexican restaurant does not offer Horchata? Highly disappointed by this place as they serve Mexican-inspired food because what they serve lacks ethnicity and shouldn't be considered real Mexican food.
Only received two stars as the service was great and the environment is upbeat. Maybe this place is perfect if you have several margaritas first to get through the terrible taste and bites of food. Food rating is below one star! Be cautious and drink a lot to help make the taste of the...
Read moreLet me first start off by saying the food was great! But the service was s**t, worst i ever had. My freind and i's experience started out fine with the usual service time ordering a drink and our meal, but when we recived our food is when it turned from an enjoyable night to just plain annoying. Our waitress name that started with a K didnt check in with us if we needed anything and after waiting several minutes my freind had to go up to the service desk to ask for sour cream and hot sause as our waitress was nowhere to be seen. Again our food was delicious. So after finishing the food we waited for our check for a solid half hour and when the waitress finally showed up she didnt come check on our table to see if we needed another drink or even the check, instead we saw here clearly standing at the table 2 over from ours having a full blown conversation with that table for a solid 15 minutes oblivious to anyone else around needing service. Mind you the resturaunt was not busy at all with it being a Monday night at 730. Finaly after being tired of waiting we asked another waiter for our check to leave. The worst part of all was we never recived any type of apology from that waitress of any kind for clearly ignoring us durring our time there. Only getting 2 stars due to food quality being great because I would have...
Read moreI give it 2 stars only because Jacinto was a great bartender and made a great drink. First time eating at Frontera I ordered take out for my daughter's bday dinner (she loves burritos). I ordered 4 burritos and 2 combo plates. One of the combo plates was supposed to be a chimichanga and a burrito. I don't know what I actually got but what I thought was the chimichanga was covered in a red sauce which by the time I got home (15 min) it was soaked and mushy. The one I think was the burrito only had chicken nothing else. The burritos I ordered for everyone else had everything in it. I ordered one burrito without cheese, peppers and onions and I got no cheese but there was peppers and onions it. My daughter was not happy having to pick them out. The size of the burritos was crazy too for $12, I guess I'm spoiled by Bueno y Sano because Fronteras burritos look like wraps next to a Bueno y Sano burrito. And Buenos burritos start $7-$8. The rice was horrible and the refried beans was too salty. While we waited (almost an hour) I ordered table side guac. Small was $6, I was better off going to Aldis and picking up a tub of their guac because it was horrible. The only thing I tasted was lime. Spent $129 and i regret it so much. I don't think we will go to...
