Originally being from NYC and now living here in middle earth I have been extremely reluctant to try sushi. My mind has made it difficult to think of eating raw fish and not seeing an ocean and I realize this is my own bias. That being said I read the reviews and heard from locals that if I were to eat sushi this would be the place....I was not disappointed! In fact I enjoyed menu items and rolls I had never had heard of before and quite honestly can’t wait to enjoy again! In the above images I started off with “Hamachi Kama” which is yellowtail jaw. I am a fan of eating ‘nose to tail’ or in this case ‘lips to fin’ and I was thrilled to sink my teeth into this dish. My word!! It was delectable and for those that have eaten fish cheek or jaw before you know what I mean. A delightful oilier flavorful cut of meat that will quickly become your favorite part of the fish! Highly recommend it if you have never experienced a fish cheek/jaw before. Then I moved onto the sushi. I opted on the right side of the picture for a traditional Caterpillar roll (my typical tried and true menu selection) used for reference to other sushi I have had and a few Unagi sashimi and Ikura sashimi, again my typical order. Then I stepped it up and tried their ‘Incredible Roll’ seen on the right side of the image. Incredible should be called more like Wow roll...it was devine. The combination of mussels on top with scallops and that citrus wasabi was spot on and something that I would be willing to push past the ‘I’m full’ point just to keep the taste lingering on my tongue. Overall great spot for sushi and really helped get me over my emotional block from eating raw fish in middle in my new home area. Definitely recommend and try the yellowtail...
Read moreMy husband and I were excited to celebrate an anniversary meal. It’s the middle of winter right now so we were of course wearing coats. When we arrived, the place had a “fancy” vibe, so I asked about a coat room because every other nice restaurant I’ve ever been to has had one. But they didn’t so I just asked if we could add a chair to our 2 seater table. The waiter said no and I was very confused and asked then where I should put our coats because sitting on them would be uncomfortable and putting them on the filthy floor is untenable. While the waiter went to ask a manager what to do, I pulled another chair from a table (the place was more than half empty) and another waiter rushed up and rudely and loudly said Umm you can NOT do that. Then the other waiter came back and said the manager said we couldn’t put our coats on an extra chair and they had no coat room. They finally offered to hang them in their staff room but my husband and I were so disgusted with the attitudes that we left. While it is strange that they wouldn’t have a solution for coats, the reason for the 1 star is the absolute rudeness and power trip. If they had explained, Oh so sorry we don’t have a coat room and we don’t have enough chairs so let’s find a solution and had been kind and considerate throughout the interactions, it would not have been a big deal. It’s freaking coats after all—not a big deal. But the rude attitudes were unbelievable. So we left and went down the street to a Japanese sushi restaurant that was classy and excellent and enjoyed a very...
Read moreWe sat down at 7:05 and immediately ordered, already knew what we wanted. 8:32! our food finally arrived. We went there in a family night out and waited 1 hr 27 min to get our food. Not worth our night out. Totally ruined our family night out. Rice bowl was hard like it had sat under a warmer for 20 minutes. Normally a good place
Yes absolutely. I had Philly sushi roll Jurassic Park sushi roll and Miami sushi roll. One of my sons had three sushi rolls not sure what they were and my wife and other son had teriyaki chicken bowl. About 45 minutes into waiting I asked the waitress if there was any issues and she said they were down to one sushi roll preparer and that the other food was done it was just waiting to be brought out with the rest of the food. So when my wife and son got their chicken teriyaki bowl it was obvious that it had set there for a while and seeing how the rice was hard. Last time we were there we had such a great experience so we thought we would take our kids there but honestly waiting an hour and a half to receive our food was just ridiculous and it really was disappointing. And I am not exaggerating on the hour and a half later, It literally was that long from the time we ordered till we got our food. Not exaggerating! Sushi rolls were really good it's just the two teriyaki bowls that set for so long. And to top that off my bill was over $100 which I get but made it harder when we were not satisfied with the service. And by service I don't mean the waitress I just mean getting our food in a...
