First appearances mean a lot. The property is attractive overall. The units are made like flats, with separate entries. The room is spacious. There are three closets (two open). Kitchen has stove, fridge w/ice maker, dishwasher, microwave oven, and sink. Main room has sofa, two beds, one three-drawer chest, and one eight-drawer chest. TV is high up on wall over chest—an advantage, since it is out of the way (I NEVER watch TV in a hotel room). Unit has individual water heater and central air conditioner. Fan can be set to shut off with temperature—an advantage. One low table with lamp by door, and bar with stools between kitchen and room. Adequate electrical outlets (but see comments). Wi-fi worked well and was very fast (28.3mbs) but lacks security. Bed was very good. Room was tastefully decorated. Floor had carpet in main room; tile in bath; remainder was simulated wood. Very small patio/balcony with sliding glass door doubled as window (air conditioning units were on patio). My room was very quiet for the most part.||But... property is dated, and maintenance could be better. Some things I observed were: at first glance, coffee maker had no carafe and microwave oven lacked turntable (but see below); display on microwave was defective (but it still worked okay if I pushed the correct buttons); aerator was broken on bathroom faucet; no electrical outlet was available near night stand, and one outlet was concealed behind the bed—that was the outlet I needed for my CPAP. No alarm clock is furnished. Common areas outside the rooms needed sweeping. I borrowed a broom to sweep the mat in front of the door. When I used the room telephone to call the front office, the receiver cord pulled out—the little clip was broken. When I opened the dishwasher to check inside, I found all the dishes, the missing parts to the coffeemaker, and the turntable to the microwave—they had been washed but had not been put away. As I was writing this, a man with a leaf blower came around and blew off the leaves and debris outside. But he blew it onto the door mat, so I had to sweep the door mat again. After three days, the wi-fi logged out, and I had to log in again. The carpet looked clean enough, but after three days in the room, the bottoms of my blue slippers were black. I washed them off, and they got black again, so it had to come from the carpet.||The location was ideally situated for my needs. The rate was very reasonable. I made the reservation two years ago and had to postpone it one year because of “the virus”; they honoured the original rate. Overall, this is a good place to stay long-term if you can tolerate a few shortcomings. One could almost live here. Note: Some of the units are funished differently. My friends stayed here in a different unit, and I had the opportunity to see their unit. Their unit had a fireplace, and the sofa faced the fireplace. The sliding door was further down the wall, and the bed was on the short wall. They had a chair at the low table. But their room had no chest of drawers. The TV was on a swivel mount on the wall between the fireplace and the sliding door.||The hotel lacks elevators and sprinklers. The air conditioner units for both storeys rest on a tiny patio outside the sliding door on the lower floor, but they were not excessively noisy. One bathroom light...
Read more⚠️⚠️WARNING TO ALL NEWCOMERS! Please take pictures and document ur stay!!! I have stayed here plenty of times, it was cheap and spacious. I didn’t care about anything else. Our first time staying there was about a few months ago. The floor had a hole in it, the wall trim was sticking out with nails and they never provide enough towels or Kitchenware. Another time we stayed, the air conditioning was not working, and u can tell the housekeepers never are checked on cleanliness. They banned my family and I from staying there, this last time. They claimed we had trashed the room. First of all it was my mistake that I didn’t turn in the fact I found a syringe behind the dresser as I was checking out. I was searching for my keys and moved furniture a bit and It was checkout time and I was rushing to get my kids gathered and we had a few errands we were late for. So I left the dresser pulled outwards so “this time” the housekeepers could do their job and find the needle. I didn’t know they were going to assume it was mine and accuse me of it! Second of all they don’t do any room checks at all or provide enough trash cans. We celebrated a birthday that week and had lots of trash. We made sure the trash was all in bags and also our dirty linens (towels etc) were in piles and not spread throughout the place. I spoke with the manager and she told me I broke policy and was not allowed even on property. She wouldn’t give me an explanation besides that we trashed the room and claimed to have pictures. I’m curious to know what these pictures entail considering Ik how I left that room. It was not trashed, but ya the housekeepers had to do their job by changing the linens out and throwing the trash out. We don’t live there like some people do. They have drug addicts that live there and don’t pay attention to their property at all. They don’t fix anything to my knowledge either. I wasn’t going to leave a bad review due to liking the space of the place and how cheap it was. They have gone to far this time. Accusing me of that needle and claiming I left the place trashed. I have a good record and used to work for plenty of housekeeping businesses. My mother was management at Wyndham at one point, and she even claimed there would have been several violations towards the housekeeping there. So why would I trash a place and leave it a mess? It’s fine, I found a cheaper place to stay and it’s fully...
Read moreGreat apartel! We could not be more pleased with our stay at MainStay Suites on Raynell in Springfield!
Friendly staff—quick check-in and check-out.
Super clean! Felt like a newly renovated apartment. Nice, new modern fixtures. The mattresses were actually comfy, which you don’t always get at a hotel. Our suite was upstairs (the penthouse, I guess is what it would be considered because it was two stories inside).
We had no trouble finding parking, and never had any disturbances from neighbors or anyone else otherwise. It felt like a safe area, more or less fenced all the way around, sandwiched between some quiet businesses, backing up to some decent-looking apartments.
This is a great location also for food and shopping. It’s about a football field length back from the main road, so you’re not hearing the traffic in your suite. I’m not super familiar with Springfield, but this is just across the street from the Battlefield mall, which has over 100 stores and restaurants, including a Chick-fil-a. Also across the street from McD’s, and very close to Barnes and Noble, Hobby Lobby and other shopping and restaurants.
Note that there is NO BREAKFAST at this location. We knew this ahead of time so we utilized the kitchen and made breakfast in our suite.
There is also NO POOL at this location. They filled it in with dirt and added a fun layer of ground up rubber (like some playgrounds are paved with). That’s kind of fun for the kids to mill around in.
There’s a small paved “basketball court” which has a goal but it needs some medical attention lol—the goal is about to fall off. It would be a good area for smaller kids to skate or scooter around, or bigger kids to shoot hoops.
There is a very tiny fitness room as well as a laundry area ($2/ wash or dry). There was a brand new gas grill on the main patio which had never been used—I’m assuming it’s for guests to use.
There’s a sidewalk winding through the facility, so it would be good for fresh air strolls, but it wouldn’t be the kind of sidewalk you’d want to plan to do a serious run on.
We were so pleased with our stay—this will definitely be our family’s go-to location in...
