Kids did the summer reading program through the library and a trip to this store was one of the prizes when they completed the required time. I point this out because the owners clearly care about the community/literacy and to point out that we didn't have to pay for our first trip here.
With that out of the way this little place is awesome! I am not a person who sits around for hours and plays board games but I totally did at this store. They have something like 750 games and there is definitely something for everyone. I saw a good selection of puzzles as well if you are into that.
Over the course of about 4 hours we played several games and found some new ones that we really enjoyed. It is hard to shop for games and get an idea of whether it will be fun or not reading the box, so this is a great spot to give them a test. I know we will go back to play games at Village Meeple, but I also expect to buy some of the games we enjoyed the most.
The other thing I wanted to mention is that they have a large selection of drinks and snacks available for purchase. It made it easy to stay longer and have more fun as a family.
Overall this was a great spot to hang out with family or friends. I never knew it was back there and I am glad they partnered with the library to gain exposure. This is the perfect spot to spend some time, but especially with all the hot weather and random rain we have been...
Read moreSo excited that Springfield finally has a board game cafe!! This locally owned gem is perfect for date night, family night, or big ole group of friends night, as there are hundreds of games to play and plenty of seats to choose from. They have a nice selection of snacks and beverages (yes, they do have a liquor license) as well as a really interesting selection of locally made gaming accessories for sale. And of course, several of the board games you can play are available for sale so you can take the fun home.
The owner is the most enthusiastic board game maven I have ever met and is happy to help you choose a game to play based on your preferences. (Or you can just spin the wheel and let fate decide.)
You can also book the private room upstairs for parties, team building, or D&D events.
If you love to play games or are looking for some screen-free family time, Village Meeple Board Game Cafe will become your new favorite hangout. Admission is a paltry $5 per person, and punch cards are...
Read moreI went here on a Saturday night with my kid. It’s one of the few affordable, family-friendly places that are open late on a weekend, which is a plus in my book.
It’s $5 admission for each person - with re-entry as needed. They also have a 10x pass, which can be shared among family or friends to save a little money.
There’s an abundance of snacks, drinks, games, and game accessories by the front in case you need something.
Since they have a large collection of games for different ages and interests, I asked the owner for recommendations. She was so knowledgeable and I could feel her joy for games as she went thru the shelves picking selections for us.
We ended up playing Castle Panic and my kid was sad to leave before we could finish the game. We will definitely...
