I finally tried this place the other day and expected to be blown away given the rave reviews I've read. While it was good and I will return to give it another chance, I wasn't as crazy about it as everyone else seems to be. The restaurant is clean and welcoming, although the decor doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's sparse so it was easy to ignore. The bathroom was immaculate, which is a huge plus. We arrived on Friday night around 7:15, and were immediately greeted and sat. There was a large party in the back room and about 5 other tables. There seemed to only be 2 servers and you could tell they were trying their best, but were just overwhelmed. We tried the chicken wing appetizer and they were very good. I ordered the Hibachi Pork Tenderloin, and my husband ordered the Bulgogi Beef. We waited roughly an hour for our food. It says on the menu food is cooked when ordered, so we expected a wait, plus we knew with that big party that there would be a delay, and we weren't in a hurry so we didn't mind. However, my entree arrived a full 15 minutes before my husband's and both dishes were wrong. I received the Panko Pork Chop and he got the Honey Spice Chicken but after waiting so long we weren't about to send anything back. The service was friendly but slow, although they were pretty quick to refill our water glasses, but we had to wait quite some time to order another round of drinks. So, it's worth a shot and I will definitely return and hopefully will receive the...

Literally the hidden gem of Springfield. At first I was skeptical that a lot of the reviews were faked and the name "James Home Kitchen" sounds more like American comfort food than authentic Asian...but I couldn't have been more wrong.

If you're wanting authentic Asian flavors and literally willing to wait because he makes every dish fresh to order...than this is the place for you. I read about the potstickers and honey chicken from other reviews so I went to give them a chance. Easily the best I ever had in Illinois. I also highly recommend their crab rangoon...and what makes this so great is the lightly breaded outside and seasoned crab.

As a huge foodie I was skeptical because the majority of their dishes were fried in potato starch (bonus to gluten free lovers)...but when I got their Honey Chicken it was absolutely fantastic....the chicken pieces were sticking together with the honey and it was spot on.

Don't be in a hurry because they'll tell you...everything is made fresh and if you get there 3 tables after you'll have to wait...but man its worth every minute. No reservations and her English isn't amazing...but just go and experience.

I believe in supporting local IF their flavors match their claim and not many in Springfield do...but this is one local restaurant ill go back to...

Major disappointment with the entire experience. There was more than 10 minutes that went by before they saw we were waiting, and was barely given acknowledgement when they did see us. I saw some good reviews that are floating around, so I checked out their website to know what to expect. Their website was out of date, because it shows a nicely cooked steak, which is what I was there for, but no steak on the menu once we get there. The owners said "Oh, that's old", with no further explanation of why it's actually false advertising left as is.

Their beef brisket was overcooked, half fat, tasteless, and hard to swallow. The potatoes that came with it were over salted.

Of the 3 different dinners between us, only 1 was found to be acceptable, the chicken wings with the BBQ sauce made with sweet potatoes.

We had pot-stickers (dumplings) as our appetizer, it came with a tasty dipping sauce. My friend ordered the dumpling platter, which is exactly the same as the pot-stickers in our appetizer, but the dipping sauce that was given with it was very bland compared to what was given with the appetizers.

Update your website to reflect what is truly...

Oh my goodness! I LOVE the food, owners and place! Server is wife, Lynn and husband, James, is the chef! Order an appetizer if you are super hungry…the meals may take a little longer if they’re busy, BUT SO MOUTHWATERINGLY WORTH IT! Generous and kind, these two lovely people make dining in one of the best experiences! We noticed quite a lot of take-out orders were being picked up—good for them! James is very proud of his ability to share his culinary skills with you and often comes out of the kitchen to check in with his dining guests. They don’t have a liquor license, so if you bring in a bottle of wine, like most places, there is a corking fee ($12). Overall—this is a wonderful place to get a vegan meal (pictured) or enjoy James’ thick panko pork with buttered potatoes and broccoli. Two of our faves! Enjoy!

A nice place run by husband and wife. It serves Texas, America and Twainese food. We had pork two ways, broccoli and potatoes. The pork was tender and so flavorful. The broccoli was the best I have ever had in a restaurant. The baked potatoe was fully cooked and seasoned to perfection. The wife came to clear the plates she asked my husband "That too green for you?" You see my husband jokes that as a child he must of been bitten by something green, because he has a strong aversion to anything green. We had been together for 15 years before he ever ate a taco salad.
