So I had called around 4:30 when they opened to ask if the bar like it used to be was still first come first serve. I was told yes. So my husband and I showed up around 7:30 and went and sat down at an open seat in the bar area. We immediately got the impression that the prior information from the phone call l made when they opened was not correct. Awhile after we sat down we asked a gal working in the bar area if it was in fact first come first serve due to the fact that it took so long for us to be helped initially. Basically her response was from what I understood no not necessarily but they had already told a server to help us. Worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant in a really long time if ever. We waited at least 25 mins to get our soup and salad when everyone around us received theirs in minutes. Finally our entrees came so I let the server know that we never received our soup and salad. Her response was “Do you want me to get them now?” I replied at this point no because I don’t want my entrée that I just received to get cold. We ate only our entrées because we like I said never received our soup and salad and left. Complete and utter failure on their part. I have no idea how this business is ever going to survive treating customers in this manner when there are so many better options to pick from! Do yourself a favor and either save your money or spend...
Read moreMy overall rating is on the food -- service and atmosphere were excellent. Food rating would be one star really, but people with me liked their stake and noodles so I can't give one star. My grave error was ordering what I thought would be sashimi and sushi. I ordered tuna carpacci and ahi tower, and what I received was sub-grade sashimi that didn't even hold its form drowned in some sickly mayonaise-based sauce. The ahi tower had fake crab meat, little tuna of no apparent quality and was also swimming in some kind of overly rich sauce. Worst meal I've had in years. Mostly kept my mouth shut though as my dining companions were enjoying themselves, so I'm ranting on this google review instead.
I do feel a bit bad about perhaps under-tipping at the end (16% I think -- that's under nowadays, right?), as it was not the at-table chef's fault or the waiter (although the waiter did try to tell me "that's carpacci" when I asked about all the yellow and red sauce covering the "sashimi" -- more like "that's disgusting"). Seriously though -- I spent many months in Japan and I think I know the difference between crappy sushi or sashimi and good. I'm not even a purist (the Japanese would never put avocado in sushi, for instance, but everyone does here -- no problem), but please spare me what looks and tastes like frozen fish covered in...
Read moreLet me first start by saying that I have been to this place more than 20 times as my family loves the hibachi style. So this review is not just of a 1 time visit.
Let me start by saying that their sitting and waiting arrangement is horrible, we were told 30 minutes and it took almost 1:20 to sit us down. I kept getting angrier every time they kept telling me: "sir you are next", and I watch smaller parties than us get seated before us, I mean I understand business but this is not a good practice. The only thing that actually saves our dinners is the chef's. They don't have any control as to what happens before but they sure do on what happens when they are cooking, today ours was Noha, and it is because of him, that our evening was saved. Then they have the oddasity to charge you with 18% mandatory gratuity, which if you asked me, I would have said that it needed to go all to the chef.
This restaurant needs to do better, you guys used to be one of the best, and are very quickly becoming the last resort. Do...
