Chinese Chef — Restaurant in Springfield

Drive through line was too long so I went inside to place an order to go. Two specials, simple order. Never been there before. Waited quite a while I thought for cashew chicken and a chicken fried rice, but when it came out it was two cashew instead. Ok, accidents happen so they said they'd get me the chicken fried rice. I figured another 3-5 minutes for something that simple. 5 more people came into the restaurant and placed orders that were filled and they left while I waited for a fried rice with some chicken. I asked for a refund at that point in which they said it would be soon and in about another 3 minutes it finally arrived. On top of the bad service there's another thing that bothers me and mostly why I won't go back. Once the food is prepared and in a plastic bag by the cook, the two people taking orders have no way of knowing what's in the sacks, so they opened each and every box of food with bare hands and peeked over the food to see what it was so they could give it to the correct customer. Maybe 8 customers through the drive through, the 5 customers that got served after me plus mine as well. I just thought it was sloppy and not a clean way to handle the food at that point. And lastly, maybe others like their darker sauce for the cashew chicken but I found it less tasty and kind of thick. 3 pieces of cashews too. Not for...

Short review: made me pay for all white meat because they were out of dark meat, food was mediocre at best.

Long review: While in the drive thru, the girl taking my order asked if I wanted all white meat. I said no. She said we only have all white meat, is that ok? She didn't tell me she was going to charge me for it, so I said "I guess." When I got my receipt and saw she charged me I said, "I'm not going to ask for a refund, but it's not fair to charge people when you are out of something and it's not the customer's fault." She had some older Asian woman come to the window, who either couldn't or wouldn't understand me. She just keep saying we're out of dark me (yes, well, already knew that). I kept trying to explain that it is bad business practice to charge people for something when it is your fault for not having ordered enough of a product. All I can say, is maybe at least the girl at the window will make it more clear to the next person they unfairly upcharge.

The food was average. Even that I would have rather had dark meat, the food itself was nothing extraordinary. I got a whopping 5.5 cashews with my cashew chicken and the food takes just like every other average restaurant...

Tried Chinese Chef for the first time. I was not impressed. They have a free "soup bar" with meal purchases. It's egg drop and spicy soup, just like other Chinese restaurants have. It wasn't bad. We had Cashew Chicken, egg rolls, and crab Rangoons. The Crab Rangoons were great, the sweet & sour sauce has a unique flavor and you can taste the pineapple in it. But the egg roll was nothing special, and the Cashew Chicken was awful. It was extremely bland chicken and rice with a weird tasting sauce on top. I put some soy, salt and pepper, and some sweet & sour on it to help... still couldn't eat it. The service was ok, the place was clean, and the food was not good at all. I can't recommend Chinese Chef.
