Once Upon a Child - Springfield — Local services in Springfield

My recent visit to the Once Upon a Child in Springfield, NJ, was quite disappointing, primarily due to issues with their customer service and inconsistent protocols compared to other locations. While this store is conveniently located on my way home, I unfortunately found the experience to be far from the standard I've come to expect.

Upon arrival, I was greeted, but then informed by an attendant that the processing of my items could take "a few" or even until the next day. This was a significant surprise, as my experience at other Once Upon a Child stores has always involved a maximum wait time of about an hour. I was expecting a similar turnaround. Compounding the issue, this location lacked the self-service kiosk where I could typically enter my information, which felt like a step backward in efficiency. I later received a text stating my items wouldn't be ready by 9:45 PM, despite the store closing at 8:00 PM. True to their word, it wasn't until the middle of the next day that I received notification that my items were ready for pickup.

When I returned to collect my items, the interaction with the attendant was equally frustrating. The individual was unfriendly and unwelcoming, and simply informed me that my total payout was $12.95. There was no explanation as to why the offer was so low, nor any indication of specific items they might have been looking for. This lack of communication and general unwelcoming demeanor made for a rather unpleasant end to the transaction.

Given this experience, I will be returning to other Once Upon a Child locations where I consistently receive a friendly "hello" and "thank you," along with more efficient service and clearer communication regarding...

I am highly upset. From the time I walked through the door to give out clothes that I washed fold and brought to once upon a child only for this lady to tell me you may not get a lot of money for the clothes without me even bringing the clothes in yet a racist move why because I’m black. I felt it from the beginning but I tried to keep my cool. After bringing three bags of clothes that I freaking wash, dry and fold they could have paid for majority of the clothes I bring to them but $10 for 8 clothes out of damn near 3 full bags of clothes. Then have the nerve to ask me to show them what clothes that they can pay for like what you just sorted through them. It wasn’t nice and I would never step foot in this store again. The addition of Once Upon A Child to Springfield on Rt 22 is fantastic!! The owners Jaime and Jessica are so friendly and welcoming. Since the store is in such a convenient location, I feel like every time I am in there there are so many people either selling their items or purchasing items from the store.

The store opened in May and they are always buying from their customers and do not have any limitations on the amount of bags or the time they close their buy counter.

I stopped in multiple times and their buy wait time is always different but the employees are working so hard to get them done asap!
