This place has been a family favorite for the past thirty years. It was simply the best Chinese food around, hands down, any day of the week, and twice on Sunday! Over the years, I’ve taken scores of family, friends, and clients there for dine-in, and have called ahead for takeout, more times than I can possibly count. I recommended this place constantly, to literally everyone! This was also our family Christmas Eve takeout tradition for years! For so long, they did SO many things right, that even a very occasional hiccup, such as forgetting to put a container of duck sauce in the bag, didn’t seem to matter much. However, the last two times I have gotten takeout here, something was very definitely, noticeably off! Curious as to why things did not seem the same, I called the restaurant only to discover that ownership had recently changed. Unfortunately, I knew that at some point, this day would come, and I suppose in the back of my mind, I had been preparing for it, as everything changes eventually. However, this fact does not make it any less disappointing! This place had been a gem among stones, for so long, that to find out that they’ve changed the chicken fingers, general’s chicken, and so many other items we’ve always loved, literally made my heart sink! The pork fried rice does not taste the same, and the BBQ boneless ribs are noticeably different as well! My intention is NOT to rip this place, or the new owners/staff apart here, as they do seem very nice. To be fair, and in my opinion, even with these very unfortunate changes, it is still somewhat better than many Chinese places in the area, (I’ve definitely had worse…MUCH worse!). Understand however, that if you have been a longtime fan of Peacock Chinese Restaurant, as our family has been for all of these years, it is no longer what...
Read moreBeen a while since I've been, it was a total let down when I finally did revisit. Went for lunch with my Fiancé there and was told to seat ourselves. Thereafter was given two glasses of water and one had a bug in it among other items floating in it. We requested a bottle of water in exchange, we did not feel comfortable drinking out of the dirty glasses that we were given. The food came out maybe 5mins after being placed. Normally fast service is ideal however this seemed very peculiar and questionable. We were highly disappointed in the service as a whole, we were brushed off when expressing our concerns. Quickly we decided to pack up and just leave. Once the bill arrived we were charged for the bottle of water that replaced the unsanitary glass of water. For $1.50 , it seemed very odd that it wasn't just credited seeing as though what was given to us initially could not be consumed. The food was definitely one star if not less, can tell it was very much rushed and thrown together. At no point were we offered alternatives to our problems, only an apology and told there was nothing they can do. I don't think I will ever return nor recommend in the future. Again, VERY...
Read moreUse to be AMAZING........ BEST I HAVE EVER EATEN!! Until the new owners took over or whatever happened. Food has nothing in it, they took out everything that made Peacock so good. I'm like devastated I'll never eat real Peacock again. I can't believe they took over and ruined the food. So sad
Edit: as it's hard to let go of a place we've gone to so long, we kept going hoping after Covid things would get better. The fried rice got slightly better, just more soy sauce and no eggshells. The last time we went there was no egg in the pork fried rice tho (probably has to do with the egg crisis). Then it made my husband very ill. I believe it was the chicken fingers. I couldn't eat them they were so bad. Well, he did and got very sick. The time before this he got sick also but I thought it was a coincidence but now I know it was the food. Sad to say, but I think we are giving up on the Peacock. Sad we'll never have that good of Chinese food ever again. Covid ruined...
