First time again for me and my son as we came for lunch on Friday 6/14. Roughly 12:45pm when we arrived. I thought it would be busier than it was. It was not. 4 other tables/booth with customers. Another couple came in about 15 minutes after we arrived. The place was very clean, and organized. Our hostess got right to us after we were seated. Took our beverage order as sweet tea and root beer was our drinks. The sweet tea... normally my complaint for this beverage at different locations, not sweet enough or strong enough or both. Generally the latter. Not here. It was strong enough - a good strong. The sweet part...WOW. Almost like drinking nothing but sugar water. This will be a first for me in my 40 some years of eating out the tea was waaay to sweet. Unenjoyable.
We placed our orders and we both ordered the 4 meat platter. Sides for my son were fresh chips and okra. I got the okra too with fries. The okra was delicious as it had the right amount of crunch. Not soggy. My fries were seasoned very well. We both got 2 orders of brisket, mine chopped his was sliced. My son got chicken breast, I got the sausage. Both of us got the pulled pork.
My sausage had pretty good flavor but zero snap to it. The casing didn't pop when you bit into it. The sausage blend was alright but seemed rather a soft meat. Almost Vienna sausage like. The brisket I had that was chopped had more fat that made it difficult to chew as the texture was off. The fat should've almost melted in your mouth. It did not. The flavor was good. Not great. Minimal to non exist smoke ring visible on my sons sliced brisket.
We also got the blackberry pie with ice cream. The pie crust was soggy, the ice cream tasted like the generic brand you'd get at Walmart. As much as the pie price was by itself, it was a definite miss. Couldn't even finish it.
Over all main lunch was good. Certainly not great. Our hostess in some ways made up for the lunch that wasn't really average. It did smell good on the inside for sure. She had a great personality. Came to check on us as needed...not that over bearing hostess that's taking it too far. Made sure we had containers to take home what we didn't eat. Got us both fresh to go cups of our beverage we ordered and in their large cup too.
Looks were deceiving as our lunch certainly wasn't bad. Again it was average at best. The plating of food was really nice. The Joplin MO Rib Crib the plating of our order a month back looked disheveled. Like it was spooned on our plates. Not the Springfield MO store.
I don't know if we'll come back. If we do, I might like to try...
Read moreI decided to check out RibCrib based largely on the signage. The inside decor was tasteful, though a bit heavy handed with colors and materials that screamed "this place is trying to be MANLY," paired with a number of large tv-screens mostly tuned to various sporting events. The place was pretty dead when I came in, populated by a handful of older couples grabbing a late lunch or early dinner. The service was reasonably prompt, and my server Christopher had apparently been covering the floor alone since the previous lunch rush, which had died down. He stayed busy, but made a reasonable effort to check on the patrons regularly. After asking for suggestions, I ordered the Okie - style bbq ribs, which were a solid 8 out of 10 as served. The sides of fried okra and Mac and cheese were solid too. Having grown up around good Texas bbq, I'm somewhat spoiled when it comes to well prepared meats, and felt RibCrib managed to clear the hurdle. Their house bbq sauce was pretty good too. I was a bit disappointed with the cheesecake slice I ordered, feeling it was a bit too heavy on the sugar and felt the texture could have been more desirable. Overall, based on my single experience, I'd be comfortable recommending RibCrib as a place to check out if feeling the need for a meat snack or a sports bar styled eatery to catch a game. Maybe next time, I'll ask if they could pull up...
Read moreTonight was my last order through UberEats from Rib Crib on S Glenstone. The last few times I've ordered, I received Ribs that were completely overcooked and inedible. I gave them one last try tonight and even called after I placed my order through UberEats and asked specifically for Ribs that were not overcooked. Ashley, who answered the phone, said they would do their best to make it right. Well of course, they didn't! Same deal as last time, overcooked Ribs! I called the restaurant back after receiving my order and spoke with the Manager on duty, Breanna. Her demeanor and tone when she replied to my complaint left me with the impression she could care less about the Restaurant's pattern of sending out overcooked ribs.... her apology was very disingenuous and she hung up the phone before I had finished speaking with her. I will not be spending my money at this restaurant any longer! UberEats has been good to provide at least a partial refund, however, it is not their fault that this Restaurant is providing poor food service! Photo 1 is from 5/03/23 and photo 2 is...
