Stopped in during a work trip. Had a few extra hours with no plans. Didn't do any research, just saw a sign from the street and gave it a shot. Very glad we stumbled upon this place.
As soon as we entered the front doors we were wowed by lots of hardwood and glass. There is a huge oval bar in the center, with hightop tables and booths at various levels to the outside of the room. At the one side and the back are the fermentation vessels behind enormous picture windows. Everything was spotless. It really was an impressive sight for what seems like a small town establishment.
Above the bar is some impressive custom metalwork holding a few hundred glass mugs for members of the mug club. Despite the large amount of amenities and features packed into a small area, the impressive design of the layout made everything feel natural. I've spent an unusual amount of words describing the interior for good reason...its impressive!
Beer options were relatively plentiful, with about a dozen or so draft options (wheat, ipa, maibock, sour, cider, etc) covering the spectrum. There was a fairly large cocktail list also, as it appears they are also a distillery (did not explore these options). We made the mistake of stopping in on mug club Monday, so it took a few minutes to get our drinks...but everyone was clearly hustling.
I didn't spend much time looking at the food menu, so I cannot comment. We did share a plate (baking tray) of nachos which were some of the best I've had. Chips stacked high, and all of them were evenly covered with cheese, pulled pork, onion rings, and other deliciousness I cannot recall.
This was a great place to sit back and kill a few hours on our way in to town. We enjoyed it so much that we did the same thing the next day on the way out of town. This time we enjoyed some outdoor seating on a warm sunny day. As far as ambiance goes, this goes on my...
Read moreWent for a work dinner Wednesday night at 7pm. Hostess said it was busy and a 45 min wait. We decided to grab a drink at the bar while we waited for our table. There were several open tables that hadn’t been cleaned off yet - wya, busboy? If they had been cleaned, we could’ve sat down much sooner. Then we waited what seemed like forever for a bartender to come take our order. Both the guy and girl bartender passed by us several times, avoiding eye contact. Didn’t bother with a “I’ll be right with you” or anything to acknowledge our presence at the bar. Eventually after a 30 min wait the guy came to take our drink order - we got 5 beers and one margarita. The beer was probably the best thing about this place. The margarita tasted like sewage though. I’m pretty sure the bartender Jersey turnpiked it because we all took a sip and nearly threw up. It tasted like toilet water. No amount of sour mix could cover that. Since we had been waiting so long, by the time we got the drinks, our table was ready. We sat down and our waiter was nice but robotic. We put in the order and the second long wait began. We waited another 45 mins ish for food, and at this point the place was pretty cleared out so I don’t know why it took so long. We finally received our dinner and had like 20 mins to eat before they closed. We were all still munching when our waiter came to ask about the check, didn’t even bother to wait for us to ask. He was essentially ushering us out the door as we were still eating. Food was mid too. The hot chicken wasn’t hot. This entire dinner from start to finish was a terrible experience, and waste of time and money. I doubt I’ll ever come here again. The staff needs training, support, and leadership, or hire more experienced people who know what...
Read moreWorst experience ever. We arrived at 5:30 to have dinner with some friends before a show. When we entered there was small two groups before us and they took my name and said it was a twenty minute wait and we could sit at the bar. This was fine with us since we had two hours to the show. We got to the bar and ordered a round of drinks the man bun bartender was not helpful in selecting any of the specialty brews on tap and seemed short with us. After a 40 minute wait and seeing other people being seated and 7-9 now empty table I asked the man that took our names when we would be seated. He said we would be next and grab some menus and seated us a couple minutes later. Our waitress came over about two minutes later and asked for our drink order we went ahead and order our food because now we are running late. She brought our drinks and that was that last she checked on us for close to 40 minutes. She came to the table and told us that it was really busy earlier and our food should be out shortly. Five more minutes later she stops and offer some chips since our food still was not ready. We have now been here for 1 1/2 hours and no food. We decided that we couldn't wait any longer that we are already going to be late for the show and we decided to leave. I asked the bartender form before for the manager because I wanted to pay for the soda and waters we got. Had to wait another 5-8 minutes to tell them about our experience and they we had to leave. Once she final showed up I told her about our hour and forty five minute wait and still no food and her response was "sorry we are busy" as I look around at all the now empty tables. I will continue to tell this experience to anyone I can. I have had better service at a Chicago...
