Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Cusine — Restaurant in Springfield

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! I work right down the road and have eaten there several times and each experience has been terrible. I went in today (on my day off) to give them one last try because i dont like to judge off of one experience. So I started off in the drive thru and I had a few questions about one of there combo plates because I was ordering for my boyfriend as well and I had a really hard time hearing her due to her not speaking English very clearly, which is completely understandable since it is a Chinese resteraunt, so I parked my vehicle and went inside because I knew my boyfriends order was going to be alil difficult and I just wanted to make it easier for both parties. After I ordered and paid, I was going through his order to make sure everything was correct. Since I paid $10 just for his and noticed there was only 2 pieces of shrimp and 3 pieces of beef, and little to no chicken, very little veggies which I paid an extra dollar for and a ton of noodles so I politely asked if they could add just a few more pieces of meat since I paid 10 bucks for it. The lady behind the counter asked the owner if she could make it right because she agreed with me as did the customer behind me. The owner came to talk to me and immediately became disrespectful and combative saying that I ordered wrong and I needed to pay an additional dollar for what was supposed to be there already and that "I needed to listen to her." Whenever I told her I wouldn't pay the additional dollar she attempted to rip my food out of my hands saying "I don't care, i give you refund". i wouldnt of normally written a review but the way i was treated as a customer that had already paid was unacceptable. The food is normally not the issue it is the owner and her customer service, the food was just what started the issue today, all in all i will not...

So sorry, I have loved triple 8s for as long as I can remember them existing (8 years? 10 years? I don't know, a really long time), always stopping when I was in town. Then I moved to the northside and haven't been as often, but still like to stop when I pass by. But the last few times I have been, all in the last 60 days, the food is clearly not the same anymore. The cashew chicken tastes different than it used to. It does not have as good of a flavor anymore. It is very bland, and I often find myself disappointed in the texture of the chicken. I used to really love their sauce and felt like it was the best cashew sauce in town. Something has changed.

But most noticeably, the rice is suddenly BAD. It is not only "different", but just a bad flavor. Oily/buttery, and weirdly flavored. It is not a traditional fried rice and is not at all what you would expect when going to a Chinese restaurant, or even what Triple 8s used to serve. What happened? New chef or something? I am confident the rice is not what anyone expects when they get Chinese takeout.

I'll wait a few months and try again, but I feel like they need to know that something is not right anymore. I'm not sure if other customers have noticed or not, but if the owners have noticed a decline in sales, I guarantee it is because some of the food has changed. I even wanted to try it a few times to make sure before I left this review in case it was just a one time thing. Unfortunately, it was not a one time thing.

I hope the owners can figure it out because I would hate to see this great restaurant disappear like so many others.

Friendly staff and nice place, just need to refocus on the food.

I went there on 6/18/19. They were busy, but not packed. I ordered Cashew Chicken, General Chicken, & Combo Fried Rice (to-go). I also ordered dumplings pan fried, which she said would take a bit longer, and I said that was fine. The cashew chicken came out in a reasonable amount of time. I then waited 5 to 7 mins longer for the pot stickers to be brought out. This I thought was odd, as I hadn't gotten my meal yet. The waitress is delivering other meals to customers who ordered after me, and I stopped and asked her to make sure that she didn't put my general chicken to go as well. She assured me that she did not. I waited another 10 mins and she brought two plates out to a table in front of me (who also ordered after me) and she sat one general chicken down, and then finally brought me the other plate of general chicken. It was suppose to be 3 star spicy, but I do not think that happened. The food was average, and it was fresh. I assumed they would bring me the fried rice to go at any moment, but they did not. After I finished my meal, I went to go ask for a to-go box, and I told the cashier they never brought me the to-go order, and she said so sorry, I will put that in now. They never told me I would need to tell them when to put the order in. So, I then had to wait for 4 more to-go orders to be filled before I was given the rest of my order so that we could leave.
