I usually brew my own coffee at home but decided to try this place yesterday as I am out of beans. I headed there before work and ordered a cappuccino. I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful their espresso was. Whoever roasts their beans does a great job! I returned today to have another cappuccino (which I found out is made with a blend of single origin beans), also hoping they might have savory breakfast options with some protein, like a quiche. Again, I was pleasantly surprised, they had several options. I got an asparagus and goat cheese quiche and enjoyed it when I got to work. I don’t know what it was made of, but the edge of the quiche had a crispy, lattice-like crust made of what I think is almond meal (with Parmesan?), but I’m not entirely sure. Delicious! I’m glad I found such a nice little place for a coffee and breakfast close to where I live. It’s just too bad they’re not open later. Seems like a nice place to sit and...
Read moreWe were in Springfield IL for a night on our Route 66 road trip. After some disastrous and really expensive coffee options in Chicago, Springfield and now on our way to St Louis we turned to Trip Advisor for help. And this little gem popped up.
The interior is eclectic, homely, quirky, CLEAN, and so very comfortable. The team that work there couldn't be more friendly and welcoming.
Let's cut to the chase - how was the coffee? OMG!!! That's all we have to say. We had a Latte and a Cappuccino to go as we were driving straight to St Louis and I wanted to turn around to just say thank you to them. The best coffee we have tasted outside of France, Italy or good coffee houses in the UK.
Prices are very very competitive and I would argue as far as value for money inexpensive for high quality.
Thank you Yellow...
Read moreYellow Bird Coffee House is near the hospitals on 1st St. I caught a post on Instagram announcement that they were open on a Saturday. Apparently that’s a once a month occurrence. The coffee shop was full of happy people. It makes sense because the husband and wife owners were walking around and interacting with their patrons. As for me, I always like trying a cold brew first. To me, it’s the equivalent of making sure a sushi place has good spicy tuna sushi before I fall in love with their restaurant. Their cold brew is smooth. It doesn’t taste very acidic. I also had the coffee cake muffin. That was delicious. Especially the icing. Overall, I’ll definitely try to catch them on an open Saturday again. Thank you, Yellow Bird...
