If I could I would give 2.5 stars but will round up to 3. Was there about 2:00 on a Sunday afternoon not too busy but definitely people there and was seated outside. The host were really nice and friendly and made us feel welcome. My mom ordered a summer sunshine drink and it was watered down a lot. My Arnold Palmer tasted like it was pretty much all unsweet tea. To be fair we probably should have addressed those issues. Ok here’s the thing we ordered steak nachos and they were PHENOMENAL!!! Honestly the best ones I have ever had, portion size was ridiculously small for $12. We ordered the entrees right when the nachos came out and they were out fast, almost too fast where you could tell something is not right in the kitchen. I ordered the California club sandwich and the bread was soggy winder bread with Oscar Meyer Turkey yuck!!! 🤮🤮🤮 it didn’t have the cheddar cheese like it says on menu. All Swiss. The truffle fries were very soggy and droopy. My dad had the Buffalo chicken wrap and the chicken was ok. The wrap was average, not bad but nothing to write home about, all the chicken on one side and toppings on the other, so it was like rushed to be scooped in there. The tots were soggy and undercooked. My mom had the blacked chicken and the blackened thing itself was fine we didn’t know there was pimento cheese or something orange wasn’t identified in the menu other than Mertk’s, it was all in a clump once again showing they are rushing. Take your time, make it all evenly distributed, we can wait. Sad state of the food. The server was attentive and a nice friendly gentleman, who gave us ketchup when we ordered and ranch and our drinks as we didn’t order them at once. Great location on the fox river and staff, and once again the nachos were AMAZING (best I’ve ever had), the rest of the food made us very dissatisfied after the amazing...
Read moreWe stopped by this restaurant during our Saturday bike trip, partly drawn in by the location and the live guitar music coming from the other side of the building (not sure if it was part of the restaurant or just nearby — it seemed like it was).
We ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad with grilled chicken, the Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese, and Hand Cut Fries for our child.
Now let me break it down: The chicken, which was supposed to be grilled, might have been grilled once, a long time ago, in a factory. It was the typical frozen foodservice chicken with artificial grill marks — I know this because I used to work in a high-volume tourist restaurant and recognize that stuff immediately.
Same goes for the fries. They were not fresh cut — they were standard frozen fries, and to make it worse, they arrived just barely warm.
So let’s summarize:
Frozen chicken on the Cesar salad
Frozen chicken in the Buffalo mac & cheese dish
Frozen fries, falsely advertised as “hand fresh cut”
For me, the quality of the food was like something you'd get in a nursing home — only the price was $17 for a salad. Also, the lettuce should have come from the crisp, tender center parts. Instead, we got dark green, dry, tough outer leaves that really don’t belong in a proper Caesar salad.
Now ask yourself: does this kind of food deserve the word "flagship" like the name of...
Read moreWe've been here probably 15 times as it's usually our stop on the bike trail for lunch. We generally like it and the food is good, maybe not great, but good, and the beer garden patio is awesome. Tonight, we had really bad service and it wasn't busy.
We ordered fine, but it took almost 10 mintues to get Ketchup and Hot Sauce. We were half done with our meal. Also no Salt on the table? No pepper? No condiments. Usually fine, but with tonight's service, an issue. No drink refills. Never even asked and I finished my coke about 1 mintue into our meal. I waited and waited. Waitress was nowhere to be seen. I finally walked to the bar and got my own refill. Our waitress didn't deliver our food which is fine, but I hope she's sharing the tips because the service was nowhere near the 20%. She did check in once to ask how the food was but that was early on. I saw her standing behind the bar just chatting. I'm not joking, my wife and I thought she was avoiding us for some reason. Once our plate was cleared by the bus guy, we waited another 5-7 minutes for her to even walk by and I had to signal her we wanted the check.
We'll be back because we generally like this place, but this particular server just wasn't on it. It's expensive to eat out now, and if we're tipping 20% on that expensive meal, service...
