I went to this restaurant for the second time on Aug 13th. The first time, the food was good. However, the servers and hostess were extremely rude. All very young but terrible attitudes. We overlooked as the food was good and the patio was nice.
The second time--- the attitudes were equally as bad, but the service and food were horrendous. We were told 10 minutes for a table outside. A half hour later, we were finally seated, but not in a table - a high-top. Lo and behold as soon as I sat down I noticed several empty tables. My server moved me to a table. We asked for chips and salsa while we waited for our food. But the server said they ran out. Flash forward an hour - our food still hasn't arrived. Miraculously the server shows up with chips and dip as a consolation. Then the food comes - a grilled cheese (disgusting, by the way) and a burger. They brought the wrong burger, it was some sort of sausage/sloppy joe meat-mixture. Before the chips even came, the server apologized and said she was comping the entire meal. Then when the chips and food came, at that point, I was done with this place.
The rudeness extends to the hostess and girl working the bar yelling at guests for not checking in with the hostess, even though they were joining a party already at the restaurant (don't always assume...). The bus boy spinning his table rag in the air as he walks around...not properly cleaning tables...
No good. No thanks. I can look past some things, but rudeness, slow service, dirty tables, etc..it's too much. Better options in St...
Read moreWe held our event here recently, and honestly the evening itself was great up until the end. The worker didn’t package our leftovers correctly and when I carried it out of the restaurant it spilled all over my $500 dollar shoes and dress. This was my dress rehersal for my wedding, so as you can imagine it was devastating. The team I worked with took no responsibility for the incorrect packing and were just completely dismissive of the whole occurrence. It was truly disappointing service. I’ve never had such a difficult time working with an event coordinator like I did with Ellie. She would not talk to anyone outside of myself throughout the planning process. She wouldn’t even CC anyone on our email chains. She was very sassy on emails, and didn’t really seem to care too much about what we wanted but just getting her job done. I would not recommend having your event at The Office. There are so many other nice restaurants in St Charles you could go to. Advice to the management: hire kinder event planners and treat your customers with respect. Take responsibility for your actions at least to an extent. As someone in customer service, you always treat customers with respect and never let them leave upset if you can do...
Read moreOld late 1800's building known as the "office" accommodates pub dwellers while the "library" can comfortably sit diners for a choice of salads, sandwiches or hot, complete entrees/house specials with fish or chicken and great garlic mashed potatoes and a veggie, like roasted asparagus or creamed spinach. Moderately high prices but within reason for this area. We came for dinner, but hostess "assumed" we were drinkers waiting for a high top table. I was seconds away from saying that a table for 4 was available for dining and we'd like to sit there, when she asked if it was okay to sit us at a "low top table". Yes, please!!! We only had silverware for two, but we were a party of four. So we asked for the two sets of silverware needed. She said okay, but forgot about our needed request. Our waitress was pleasant but service to get our beverages and order our meals was slow. Finally, after 30 minutes, we had our beverages (water and sodas) with the meal served shortly after. However, we STILL needed silverware! The hostess appeared inconvenienced by our 2nd request for eating utensils. Now we can eat. Food was pretty good and generous. Not a terrible experience, but there is room for...
