The Lewis — Restaurant in St. Charles

Had a very poor experience here. It used to be a good spot but the drinks have suffered and management is embarrassing. Females should especially avoid this establishment as the owner(s) have proven to support male customers that are aggressive and verbally abusive toward women.

Soon after entering the establishment, an overly aggressive man had verbally abused a female member of our group - simply for knocking on the bathroom door to see if it was occupied. After calmly diffusing the situation to avoid any further conflict, our group went to the bar to order a drink. We were promptly approached by the owner and asked to leave. I know there's no "perfect" solution to things like this but one thing is for sure, allowing the abusive customer to stay while asking the responsible customers to leave, is NOT the answer.

The owner should be embarrassed that they allowed a misogynistic, verbally abusive, and aggressive man to stay at the bar and continue to drink, while removing a responsible group of customers. One of which was an innocent woman that was victimized by this...

I had my wedding at The Lewis in August (I know, I've been feeling guilty about not writing this sooner!) and it was absolutely EVERYTHING I imagined and more for our wedding. Dan the owner and his staff from day one was super attentive, very professional, and all-around cool people. They went above and beyond to create such a special time for us and our loved ones.

The Lewis's atmosphere and vibe is like none other, but if I had to compare...it's like the new "Cheers" of Saint Charles...sometimes you wanna go, where everybody knows your name...and they're always glad you came...I digress.

If you haven't visited The Lewis, then you're missing out. And if you're looking for a small intimate gathering to host a special occasion, that does it all, this is your place!

If i could give zero stars I would. Absolutely repulsive customer service. Avoid at all costs. Bar manager/owner protects disgusting, aggressive , drunk and abhorrent customers. Came in for a night of celebrating an engagement and was kicked out due to an incredibly inebriated customer who tried to start a fight in the bathroom due to an unknown reason. When asked why we were being kicked out but the aggressive customer wasn’t, their reason was “well they’ve been here for 5 hours” .

He was aggressive and insulting and the bar owner protected him instead of welcoming new customers. The bar manager/owner was incredibly hostile and insisted we leave when nothing disrespectful was done on our end. Never in my life...
