Bougie Bites STL — Restaurant in St. Louis

Despite having a bunch of issues with ordering and pickup, it was worth it! The food and the customer service were both fantastic, and we went back a few days later!

We had a vegan friend in town, and have been meaning to try Bougie Bites forever, so we finally did!

I think we ordered right after they opened, and it happened to be an off night. My husband stood around waiting for our food for almost half an hour (while I sat in the car with a screaming toddler), and we tried calling and texting several different numbers we found listed, before someone finally came up and got us our food.

We finally got home, and the food was amazing! Egg rolls were delicious, and so were the burgers! Toddler wasn't crazy about the chicken tenders, but our vegan friend ended up finishing them off for her!

While we were eating, we were very surprised when my husband got a phone call from the owner (I think?), who saw our text and wanted to make sure we got our food. He explained what happened (and said we were still very happy with the food) and they apologized.

And then in another surprise, we got a notification later that night that the charges on our card had been refunded!

I didn't end up eating my Ouuwee burger until the next day, but it was still fantastic! And my toddler was still asking for more of the fries weeks later!

Our friend went back a few days later, and didn't run into any issues, so I think we just happened to catch them on an off day (we all have them!).

The only thing we weren't crazy about was the fries. They weren't bad, just not what we were expecting -- crunchy, but also a little doughy/starchy and vaguely sweet, rather than being salty. My husband wasn't a big fan, I thought they were okay, and the toddler loved them!

(Oh, and the burgers were so good, my husband who's supposed to limit gluten totally forgot that he shouldn't have eaten the bun until he was finished!)

We're a family of omnivores, but like to go vegan when we find tasty options, and we'll definitely be back! (Also GF bun options would be an AMAZING addition to the menu, and would put this at the top of our...

Big Smiles and Great Food!  You know you are going to have a great experience anytime you have the opportunity to enjoy Bougie Bites as the staff is ALWAYS smiling and looks like they are having a good time.  They take great care and pride in everything they create and you can tell they genuinely love their work and really love their customers.  Owner Latoya, Chef Mike and Mark are usually always there so you know the food is going to be consistent.  With their new brick & mortar location on Page they have also started to slowly add new things to the menu.  Burgers, Birria & Regular Tacos, Nachos and their handmade NoCap Eggrolls you are sure to find something tasty for everyone.  You can also follow their Food Truck which makes the rounds to events all across St. Louis. My wife and I went here on the their first brick-and-mortar day open and it was great to have a vegan, locally owned place in Overland. Since then, they have really expanded the menu and seem to be doing steady business every time we go, which is great. It's a bit pricey to some people but this is niche food with higher-than-average costs and lower volume than your standard burger place and that's fine. I tried the street tacos this evening and they were excellent. Always happy to see what is new here and we'll certainly be going back regularly. This is mostly a counter service, grab-and-go kinda place with like only two or three little tables. So, plan ahead if you are expecting to get a booth: they don't have them.
