It's always great when April comes around and Murray's opens for the season. While not the original snow cone stand for that location, Alderman Joe Vaccaro's parents, Joe and Rose, started the original stand, Murray's has been there for 20 years carrying on a neighborhood tradition that began in 1953, and I am glad they are. Murray's has been a more than worthy torch bearer. It just wouldn't be summer without the "snow cone stand" next to White Front and those cups of perfectly shaved ice, flavored with just the right amount of syrupy goodness. My only complaint is that they have so many original flavors and no information on what they are, so you have to ask the staff "What's in..." for every flavor you are curious about--wish they just put the combination of flavors...
