Shapiro's Market — Restaurant in St. Louis

This is a small convenience store that I have passed by every day for the last 3 years. I always say I'm going to stop after work for a sandwich but the one time I did, it was after 4pm & the kitchen was closed. So today, I decided to come in. I was the 1st person & the guy behind the counter said jokingly after I asked if the kitchen was opened"Oh, you gonna make me work today huh" lol..I said "Yep" & a bond was formed lol...I told him I wanted a "bacon, egg & cheese sandwich, he said, with mayo, I said sure". He said the next time, I can call & he'll have it ready for me. I told him it was my 1st time, he said, "Hope it won't be your last" & to let him know how it was...so here is my review....I want another one..tomorrow & the next day. In fact, I want to try ALL the sandwiches on their menu, in fact, I may have to call in an order today b4 I get off, so I can try their deli sandwiches. It was that good! The fresh egg, the tasty bacon, the cheese & the mayo blended just right & the bread tasted fresh! I'm eating my other half while I write this...the price was reasonable as well. I paid $7.98..I will be back,...

I use to love coming to this store even though they are over priced but the customer service is declining. On 5/7/25 @2:30 I retrieved items that I was going to purchase and noticed that I needed to activate my new card. I stood to the side to do so and another customer came in and thought I was in line. I told her I wasn't and she proceeded to the register. The cashier made a nasty remark stating "I don't know why the hell people are just standing in around" Instead of going back and forth I put me $25 worth of items down and left. I work up the street in a building with a staff of 50 employees who shop there that has also experienced rudeness from cashiers. None us will be returning to shop here. You want our money but want to be rude. No thanks. So much for trying to support local business's. This is not the 1st rude encounter I've experienced with this cashier. I'm just choosing to bring it...

I can't understand how anyone commented that this place has good service. Unless you like unsolicited attention from the men that work there and then are willing to deal with the backlash of asking them to stop calling you "sweetie" then, I guess, yeah... great service. They also serve the neighborhood as a UPS access point but they make getting your package as difficult as possible. Harassment aside, they claim no packages can be picked up during the lunch rush (even when you are one of two people in the entire establishment at 11:15a.m. on a Wednesday). And don't you DARE as the cashier a question while they are checking out another customer (even if they aren't actively engaged in conversation with said customer) because they will lash out on you like a toddler eager for the opportunity to get any attention at all. Unprofessional. Will never return. You can keep...
