Ever since I moved to the STL area, I have LOVED The Cup! It's been one of my favorite dessert places for years! When I got engaged, I knew that I wanted some cupcakes from The Cup to accompany my wedding cake. In early September 2015, I reached out to the CWE location to schedule my order. On the first call, I got a front line employee who seemed confused on who I should talk to, so I gave my name and number and asked for someone to call me back. I waited 4 days and heard nothing, so I called again. A different employee picked up and said that I needed to speak with "Kelly", but she wasn't available. I once again left my name and number and asked for someone to call me back. I waited a week, and I still received no call. I decided I should call a third time. Wonderfully enough, Kelly picked up the phone! I explained my needs and what I was wanting to purchase (6 dozen pumpkin cupcakes - nothing crazy), and her response was "Well this is a wedding order, so you'll need to call me back during my wedding hours." EXCUSE ME?!?! WEDDING HOURS?!?!?! At this point, I'm a little frustrated and my wedding is in 3 weeks. She could clearly tell I was frustrated and said that I should email her all of my information and she would help me through there. I immediately did what she asked, and I sent an email detailing everything out that she needed. I waited... and I waited... and I waited... for a week... and NO RESPONSE. Being a bride, I'm clearly starting to get nervous at this point since there has been no communication back to me. I decided to change my plan of attack and I reached out to the Edwardsville location instead. The staff there was FANTASTIC! They immediately took down my order, reassured my concerns, and even took down my bridesmaid's information so she could pick up the cupcakes. Jennifer at the Edwardsville location is fantastic!!! Everything went off without a hitch and the cupcakes were a huge hit at the wedding! Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on that email from Kelly at the CWE...
Moral of the story, the cupcakes are the BEST, but customer service at the CWE location is LACKING. Fortunately, they have other employees who are on their game and care about customer service. I'm glad it all worked out for me with a little extra work, but CWE needs to get their business practices worked out... or run the risk of losing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTornado? What tornado? The Cup in the Central West End and the owner of the business deserve 6+ stars. My wife and I tied the knot on May 17th of this year and had The Cup provide around 75 cupcakes for our wedding guests as well as a robust tiered display piece. The cupcakes were ready on time and delivered without incident or fanfare. Many in the area remember that weekend well but not because of our wedding. An EF3 tornado ripped through Saint Louis just over 24 hours earlier on May 16, 2025 coming down near Forest Park and continuing on to destroy numerous homes and businesses across the region. The Cup in the Central West End was at ground zero for the destruction. None of this occurred to us until we tried to return the display tray the day after the event. A sign on the door of the Cup signaled they had lost power in the tornado and were closed until it could be restored begging the question...how the heck did they get those cupcakes to us? When I was finally able to get in to return the tray, the owner explained that their goal was for us to not even know that anything had happened. They had the cupcake bases nearly done when they lost power and were able to transfer them to another location for decorating and dropped them off on schedule. Major Kudos and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stopped by The Cup today on our way home from the Cherokee Street Market - mostly because they sent an e-mail with the offer of a free cupcake for active duty and veterans of the US Military. Once you go in and start looking at the cupcakes you cannot get just one, though, so I go four. I kinda wish I had gotten a couple more because they are pretty nice. I even told the baker that I felt that I was going to regret not getting more, but she said they would be there and I could always come back, so I stuck with the four I got. They all looked so good. I had drank a Delta 8 THC seltzer water a while before I got there (don't worry, my wife was driving) and was just a tad buzzed which made those cupcakes look even better. We split the Carrot Top and Cookie Dough cupcakes right after we got home and are saving the Strawberries and Cream and the Cuppa Coffee Cake for...
