Stopped by super late - around 12:45 am right as they were closing. Have been here a few times and usually get the grilled chicken. Had a little mix up where I called the Norwalk location by mistake and there was some miscommunication.
I get to the Stamford location - they were out of grilled chicken and the owner or manager came out and encouraged me to try the chicken shawarma. I’m glad he pushed me to try it as I was going to leave. After I ordered it when I went to pay he said it was on him and he was sorry for the confusion (which was caused by me)! What amazing customer service and what a great customer experience!
Needless to say, he was right, I really enjoyed the chicken shawarma bowl. Very flavorful, not too salty and the rice/white sauce/hot sauce combo with the pickled onions was soooo good.
I also got some garlic sauce on mine which was delicious and some other toppings like lettuce, fatoush salad (diced cucumbers, onions and tomatoes and some jalapeños.
Let’s just say, they’ve won me over as a customer for life. I salute you guys for the awesome customer service and experience, thanks...
Read moreThere's Taj Indian food upstairs and that's highly reviewed yet this is for the Mediterranean Mezze & Grill downstairs. Greeted by a clean and inviting spot which we desperately needed in Downtown Stamford.
Look Layla's is amazing and Shah's Halal in Springdale both are really great yet downtown has been desperate since Laylas left downtown around 6 years ago.
Taj has two types of chicken, lamb (not pork) and falafel. They do bowls, pita wraps and salads. All are enormous in size portions. They have a garlic whip, tzatziki and a very spicy red sauce. Love the pickled veggies and its a great meal that will leave you leftovers for lunch the next day. I did both the grilled and schwarma chicken and enjoyed it.
Place is clean, staff are friendly. Uber Eats for delivery but I walked in plenty of clean tables if you want to eat there but I got mine to go. ...
Read moreI’ve been a regular customer at Taj for their rice bowls, but recently, I've noticed a decline in the portion sizes. There's one thin guy who serves, and despite us repeatedly mentioning it, he still gives a significantly smaller portion of rice than usual. I've also had rice bowls from Shah’s, and their portions seem more consistent, but Taj’s reduced quantity is really disappointing. I hope the management looks into this issue as it’s becoming a...
