For the 2nd year in a row, we catered our Sephardic styled Passover Seder for 18 from Leyla's. Note that my husband's mother was Turkish; Jews from the middle-East consider Leyla's food to be Jewish food (albeit not K). Leyla's very thoughtful prepares our Passover order so it did not contain any wheat/bread products; and Sephardic Jews of the middle East eat beans such as chickpeas during Passover.
Last year Leyla's delivered from Stamford to NYC; this year they packed the meal in a giant heated 'box' which they loaned to us and friends picked it up on their drive into NYC. I'll drop the 'box" off at Leyla's Stamford location this Friday afternoon.
We and our guests love Leyla's lamb and chicken (kabobs) served with a fabulous horseradish sauce on the side; the babaganoush; humus; chopped salad (they put the dressing on the side so it's fresh); pickled turnips; rice and falafel. I still make matzoh balls and serve chopped chicken liver for the Ashkenic; and my daughter made the Turkish styled charosets. We had a perfect Seder with easy prep thanks to Leyla's. Thank you.
We regularly take out and order from Leyla's; but Passover from Leyla's is truly a treat!! We've never eaten in the shop; but the tables are always full when we come in to...
Read moreI have to say, this review is long over due. We have been long time customers of Layla’s Falafel since they opened downtown Stamford. One of the reasons we love them is because their customer service is top notch. They are always friendly to us. Especially the one gentleman who seems to be the person who always answers when we call. It is always a delight to go in and pick up our food. Even when they are swamped with orders, they still are courteous. As for their food. We love their food. As of late, we mostly order one of the variations of falafel wrap but we have ordered everything from lamb to chicken over the years. One of the reasons we frequent their restaurant is because it is one of the few restaurants where we can get a great vegan meal. Hands down, we love their Falafel Supreme wrap made with Tabbouleh. It is divine. If you haven’t had it, make sure you try it. All of their sandwiches are great. If you’re not vegan, make sure you try their garlic sauce (Toum). If you’re ordering French fries, ask for lightly salted or no seasoning. We hope you enjoy and we’d love to hear what you think when you do. Read moreWanna talk about some good food?! Oh my word! So good. Ok ok I'll stop now. But honestly so good. I hadn't been there in a while, and the food did not disappoint. They haven't done the "Covid down hill" that most of my other favorite restaurants have done. Not only was the food AMAZING, but the customer service was great! They were super busy. Despite that they kept us moving really well. And even though it was so crazy busy they still were joking and had a smile on their beautiful faces. 😏😉 I didn't feel unsafe as there was enough space cleared out so a few of us could wait inside if we wanted to. The wait was 20 minutes, but I feel like that normal for a place with great food. Welcome to the "wanna be city" lol Oh and because I had to wait they gave me the next size up fries. Now that's what I call good service. Those fries though....oh my word! So delicious! I will eat them cold and not even care, they're that good. Anyway all in all their service and food was amazing. Thanks guys! Yall made my night. Can you tell I'm a...
