I recently had my wedding in Stanley, Idaho and used this restaurant for our catering. The food was wonderful - the customer service was another story. I just wanted everyone, especially brides, to be aware of this situation. The restaurant was not doing any set up, delivery, or serving for my wedding - which was totally fine. They were simply making the food and we were picking it up as we would pick up a take out order. I was a bit perplexed when I saw that they had added a 20% gratuity for a pick up order. When we asked about what the gratuity was for we were told by the woman who coordinates the catering (Mandy) “We typically add the 20% gratuity to any catering to distribute to the staff that prepared. It is not mandatory, just a standard and greatly appreciated. I can certainly change if you don’t feel deserved.” Instead of taking it off, I just asked her to lower the gratuity percentage as I didn’t feel that it should be that high considering we are picking up the food, setting up, and serving. Her response to me was “I removed the gratuity completely and will pay appropriately out of my own pocket.” So according to her, because I was not tipping 20% meant the cost of the food (which was not cheap as other reviews have already pointed out) + the gratuity percentage I agreed to, was not enough to pay the employees appropriately - even though she had already told me gratuity was not mandatory in the first place. I had even asked my wedding planner about this because I did not want to be in the wrong and she had asked other wedding planners as well who agreed that with no catering it wouldn’t make sense to tip 20% and some even said 0% when not providing any services. Whether I am wrong in this, who knows but I have just never been given what I felt was a guilt trip to pay a 20% gratuity to pick up food. In the end, I ended up paying the 20% gratuity, which I shouldn’t have and once I paid the original invoice, she side-stepped my email and thanked my mother-in-law for paying (who was NOT the person who paid). If there was an issue with the percentage of gratuity I agreed to pay, I would have been happy to see what she thought was fair and for her to explain the responsibilities that would account for a 20% tip, but instead she told me she would have to pay out of her own pocket in order to pay the employees appropriately. Extremely unprofessional in my opinion and I was very disappointed in having to deal with that. Only giving 2 stars because the food deserved the stars, otherwise I would have given 0 stars. Communication was not great either when trying to plan but luckily my mother-in-law handled most of the...
Read moreRudest manager at the restaurant. Her name is Danielle.
Danielle is nothing but an arrogant human being with no sense of customer service and I don't know how she became the manager of that restaurant. My family decided to have breakfast at Mountain Village Restaurant and she seems not having a good mood from the very start. We were welcomed with a blank face and were seated on a table that has two air vents on a cold morning. I get it, that time that maybe the only table available. We kindly asked if we can get another table because we are freezing and she said that " no, there isn't any available table". She took our orders and we got the wrong one. She gave us attitude and said " I can comp your food and you guys can leave". At that point I was shocked because I have never met a person as rude and as arrogant as Danielle. I asked for her name and she said I can get it to anyone and everybody knows her! Wow,she must be a celebrity!😲
I don't care if she is the owner of that restaurant or owner of the Mountain Village Resort. Treating a customer like that is not okay. People visit Stanley because they want to have a good time and not be pissed by a rude and...
Read moreBartender was playing Hozier when we first came in which was awesome. Dining room was crowded but we got to the bar at 11 before the lunch rush. Bartender is an excellent singer and server. He was the only one serving. The Western burgers were great, could have used some more bbq sauce though patty was slightly dry. I'd recommend they put bbq sauce on both buns or just ask for extra! The fry sauce was amaaazing! Ranch was good but the fry sauce is so good its all you need. I don't give 5 stars because the burgers were $17 a piece and I understand restaurants have to keep up with inflation but those were not $17 burgers they were $10 at most. For $17 I can get a lot more hamburger at the store but it was nice to be in their laid back atmosphere. Would recommend for an occassional splurge but this is not somewhere you want to eat all the time with those prices. Also please get rid of the fly catcher in the corner it's sad seeing dead and dying flies:( other than that the whole place seemed pretty...
