James beard nominations are a pretty big deal. In Idaho Amano has been nominated 5 times; yet in a little mountain town a few hours from Boise sits another two time nominee Stanley Supper Club. The NY Times even said it had some of the best fried chicken in America. So a few of my Boise foodie friends and I decided to head up to Stanley for the weekend (it’s a 3 hour drive from Boise so overnight is highly recommended plus it allows you to explore Stanley/Red Fish Lake too). It’s a newer complex in Stanley; the interior of the restaurant is gorgeous and homey. You’ll need a reservation; otherwise you most likely won’t get in (they do have a patio too). The menu changes seasonally right now they are on their summer menu. It’s a great place for sharing/trying lots of different menu items; we ended up ordering several things ourselves and sharing. All of us were completely blown away by the food; every item was flavorful and memorable so delicious. They had a great bottle selection; ended up grabbing a chilled red wine that we all loved. To start snag their house made sourdough bread; it does come with the chicken for 2 dinner too. The sourdough bread is crunchy flavorful and topped with their house made butter with specs of salt you’ll savor every bite of their sourdough bread. Next we had the salads some of our most favorite things of the evening both were standouts to us. The shaved broccoli salad (very unexpected-Thinly shaved broccoli and tossed with fried shallots, tomatoes, pickled chilies, basil, and candied peanuts)and then strawberry fig salad (my personal favorite; Balsamic macerated strawberries and figs tossed with mixed greens, mint, fresh mozzarella, and black pepper vinaigrette). Then it was on to the main dishes; the fried chicken for “2” honestly could feed 2-4 people it’s a lot of food (includes a half of loaf of bread, a salad, vegetable of the day, whipped mashed potatoes). The fried chicken comes with 3 dipping sauces housemade ranch (my favorite), hot honey, and a pineapple haberno sauce). The fried chicken was crispy and juicy/moist so much flavor (no dried out/over cooked greasy fried chicken here). The other dish we ordered was the star of the night in my book was the pierogi with mustard greens/kielbasa (Potato filled dumplings served with fermented mustard greens, sour cream, cilantro, and scallions)-freaking delicious so much flavor!! Then it was on to dessert I mean seriously who bakes their own cakes too? They had a Friday and Saturday cake-we did the saturday blueberry cake with a frosting graham cracker crust. Best cake I’ve had at a restaurant outside Amano. We ended up splitting the cost between the six of us with tip came out to $70 per person. One of the best meals I’ve had in Idaho!! Definitely worth the drive to Stanley.. **Can we give more than 5 stars OMG incredible dining experience

Only a matter of time. I'm 23 which means I've had about 25,000 meals. All those meals and I have never felt compelled to write a review before. I ordered the fried chicken for two and it was hands down the best chicken I have ever had in my life. The sides were executed perfectly and the 3 dipping sauces were amazing. Seriously just try the chicken, you won't regret it. It's pretty reasonably priced too, for the cost of a bloated Jack in the box order you could get a seriously memorable meal. Why are you still reading this review? Call the Stanley supper club and order the chicken for two. Just do it. Only a matter of time before some highfalutin food blogger comes into town and makes this a more popular destination than these mountains.

Wow! Even the vegetables are out of this world!! Lynn and I had the Chicken dinner for two and the chicken could not have been prepared better. Perfectly cooked, Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Complete with very flavorful dipping sauces (a great compliment, but the chicken was so good that it didn't need a sauce - but I ate them anyway). The sausage plate was all created in house and very tasty...a great starter. The complexity of flavor profiles was very skillfully crafted, even in the veggie dishes. I'd recommend these folks any day of the week. Thanks so much to Heather and Ben for creating such a wonderful atmosphere and great dining experience!! And say hi to Rob in the kitchen as well. WOW, WOW, WOW. What a delight! Had a STUPENDOUS meal for our anniversary dinner that rivals anyplace in the US! Seriously, the folks at Stanley Supper Club are providing a top notch dining experience in a relaxed setting in the Sawtooths. We made a reservation easily online via their website for our 44th anniversary dinner. Rayme and Hallie and took wonderful care of us as we kicked things off with a glass of wine and some of that delicious sourdough bread. Followed up with the strawberry fig salad which is one of the freshest and tastiest salads we have ever had in our 67 plus years! Entrees included the special carrot ravioli and the leg of lamb both of which were EXQUISITE in their own rights and full of wonderful flavors!!!!! And all of this provided for in Stanley Idaho. Yes, you should and could drive from Ketchum, Boise, Twin Falls or anywhere else within a 2 hour or more drive and not be disappointed. This restaurant ranks up there with the best and is another terrific dining option in little old Stanley Idaho. I might have taken some pics but I was too consumed with the wonderful dining experience to care! Just saying. ENJOY and THANK YOU STANLEY...

This is a special place. The decor creates a warm, cozy vibe with lovely tapestries, pretty stained glass windows, simple plants, and wood furniture. All put together so beautifully and artfully placed. The tableware is miss matched but ties together with warm colors and ‘homey’ patterns. Our server was friendly and helpful, with a casual, welcoming vibe. We chose a couple interesting beers from a great list and placed our order; fried chicken for two! Wow, I say WOW! Crispy flaky breading, super juicy and tender, simple but perfectly seasoned, DELICIOUS! Dinner came with a lovely fresh salad, mashed potatoes and warm sourdough bread. EVERYTHING made from scratch! Flavors on point! So, as full as we were, we had to try dessert! OMG an almond cake with berry compote and earl grey frosting! It was light, moist and elegantly delicious! All around we had great, enjoyable experience! If we find ourselves back in Stanley we cannot wait to dine at the Stanley...
