To be fair, I’ll lay the whole scenario. They close at 10p, I ordered at 9:37. I was on my way from another Thai restaurant that was closed and I Siri’ed Double Bamboo. I ordered Green Curry w/Shrimp (which wifey said was good), Chicken Pad Thai, and Shrimp Tom Kai soup. First red flag was he said it’d be ready in 10 mins..When I got there 12 mins later, it was packaged and sitting on a table. I made small talk with an older lady that rung me out. An older man in the kitchen area smiled as I completed my order and exited. They were nice enough. However, I live in Newport Beach about 25 mins away. When I got home and made the spread for my family, the pad tai was inedible. Everyone knows kids love noodles, my kids didn’t touch it. The chicken wasn’t fully cut and resembled mangled meat. The noodles were clumped and lacked the flavor I was anticipating. Although the temperature was adequate, the dish was dry and not appetizing. The soup was bland and tasted like some concoction with Campbell’s tomato creamy soup as the base. As a budget conscious consumer, eating out is not something my family does often. We have more so during the pandemic and civil unrest to support local businesses. Even though I was nonplussed with the food, I felt it was warranted to reach out before reviewing to let them know and to see what they would propose as a remedy. Succinctly, I was told to bring the old food back from last night. That was 10 mins ago.. Like I said, my lady liked the green curry. That’s why they got the 2, but Double Bamboo is a one hitter...
Read moreI checked out this place because it had great reviews mainly focused on the pho. I'm Thai and wanted to see what kind of spin a Viet Thai restaurant would put on the dishes. I ordered yum nuea, and Tom yum goon, very standard dishes. I got the Tom yum quite fast but the taste was missing something I would get from a dedicated Thai restaurant. It just wasn't sour and when I asked for a lime to fix the issue she gave me lemons. I then got my yum neau, it tasted a bit off and just okay. But as I mixed the sauce around my salad. I saw something move so I looked closer it was a fly that was in my salad, I almost immediately threw up and couldn't eat the food. I walked up to the counter showed the waiter the napkin I'm which I caught the fly in and told her I can't eat it anymore. She refunded me the yum neau but still charged me for the Tom yum as I gagged...
Read moreI ordered the pad see ew and I took 2 bites paid and left. I was the first customer of the day and I think the sold me yesterday's food. The broccoli was soft and yellow. The chicken was old. The noodles were not fresh and they seemed more like fettuccine then chow fun. The eggs seemed definitely like a yesterday's dish. Even so, I've had better left over chow fun noodles! It was very bland and I couldn't even tell the noodles had been fried. It was more like fettuccine in a runny broth with old eggs, chicken, and yellow lump broccoli. Maybe they thought I wouldn't know the difference but I know my way around Thai food. In a city of Stanton with large Thai and Vietnamese population, I don't know how they stay in business. This was a very...
