Death by Pizza Challenge is completed here! More below.
"Pizza is like the entire food pyramid!" ā Madeline Oles
148th person to review Westside Pizza in Kuna, Idaho. This is my 455th review and I am a fan!
You see signs for Westside Pizza from the street, but when you turn into the parking lot there is no signage so you just have to wing it as to which door you go into.
Walking in you see games and a claw machine. The menu is clearly on the board. They have many teenagers working and they have the customer service skills of their generation (draw your own conclusion).
I ordered a chicken salad, and a large one-topping pizza with a 2-liter of soda for $12 and added a topping for $1.50. I downloaded their app and had a coupon for free breadsticks so we got those, too. Rach or Marinara Sauce is an extra $.50. All of which was pretty good. Not above average, not below-- just pretty good. Good ranch though!
Now, my brother-in-law attempted the death by pizza challenge:
18-inch pizza with 8 toppings and two layers of cheese-- the pizza is mammoth. You get 1 hour to complete it. If you do so, you get the pie for free and $100! Whoa!! Score!!! If you vomit, you owe them $100 for cleaning fee plus the pizza cost. If you just simply lose you pay $28 for pizza, which is a good price for it anyway as it can feed an army. If this is something you would like to attempt, you need to call 48 hours in advance if possible. He lost, was too much! He took the leftovers home and made omelets out of the toppings the next day and still had left-overs. I took a bite and it was super good. You can order this pizza without attempting the challenge.
This establishment is franchize and different than the one in Boise. The Groupon doesn't work at this location. They may have different rules for the challenge so make sure to call.
There are a few Youtube videos of this place and the challenge if this interests you. They make it look easy but it's not! Bring cash for the games. They do not have an ATM machine and they don't do cash back-- they do have a coin change machine, but not many people carry...

If you go in for the lunch special, they never have just basic options like pepperoni or they will be out of single slices of pizza (they premake the lunch deal) so we have rarely been able to partake in the lunch special, although it is a great deal. The fountain beverages are either watered down or out of syrup always. The pizza is not great. For being a small town with only 2 options for pizza, a lot of us drive out of town to get a pie even though Westside is just minutes from anywhere practically in Star. The calzones arent great either. The pasta is probably the worst we have ever had. It's typical frozen pasta that they run thru the oven and charge a lot of money for a very small portion. A salad bar would greatly improve business. But, as it stands, the food is just not very good. My whole family--even the kids, would take a Wal-Mart brand frozen pizza any day. Service is VERY slow and there's rarely any adults working. But the service and the teens are always polite and that goes a long way in our book. They have a small game room for kids and a decent sized dining area. A lot of their litter flies all over the parking lot and in the fountains out front which is a bummer. They need to put syrup in the fountain drinks, get their frozen pastas from Costco instead, get a salad bar, and work on the recipes for their pies and calzones. Id go every day if they had a salad bar, it's crazy that they dont. No where in our town has one so theyd make a killing if they simply added one. Some of us want healthier options as well. Ive never met a person who enjoys Westside, but we do appreciate the polite employees. I see the delivery guys everywhere and they follow the rules of the road and drive safely. The only other bummer is they have majorly scratched the paint off my door where they shoved the carboard coupon flyers on. I wish they wouldnt do that. In any event, it's not horrible but it's not good. The polite service is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI live too far away for delivery, but I've ordered pickup twice, once online and once on the phone. The first time, they forgot to make my order until someone came out to ask me again what order I was waiting for, some 15min after I first arrived and checked in with the cashier. Really good food, so they get an extra star and chance. The second time I called in an order for pickup then drove in some 20min later. While I was sitting at the table closest to the counter after paying and getting a drink for while I waited, they brought me a basket of wings meant for the big party sitting across the room then sent my food out with one of their delivery drivers after taking much longer than the 25 minutes they told me on the phone. They didn't know which driver so they couldn't find my food to recall it. While it was offered that my order be remade complimentarily, my patience had long worn too thin to wait another 20min for them to possibly realize they'd forgotten to make my order again or sent it to the wrong address. I won't be back, 0/2 is a pretty abysmal success rate for pickup orders.
In reply to the owner's response: I appreciate you reaching out, however at this point I'm not interested in taking the chance a third time, the delay last night was the cherry on the poop sundae of my day. It's been rough on two different visits separated by several weeks with different staffs. "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me"...
