I politely declined and stated I had just had pre-workout a hour before . When I said this he kind of looked at me like " well what are you here for" I just continued on saying I was going to sit and study for a few minutes and asked was that fine because his face was just giving the impression that something was absolutely wrong. He stated " no, this is a bookstore and coffeeshop not a library" and that the seats were only for paying customers. Now this could've have been relayed a lot better because I definitely wasn't coming with malicious intent and in fact I would've purchased something had it been worded differently because I've said before I do try to make it a habit to purchase something when I am there because I want to continue to support my local spot that I grew to love. I responded saying " oh, Im sorry it’s not allowed anymore?" he then states that it was never allowed and that I must have their shop confused with another. I told him I had come here many times throughout the week while in school both last semester and even the semester before and not always did I purchase coffee and it wasn't mentioned then. Now I didn't mention the fact that I had been coming since they've opened to do art and even then I didn't always buy something right at the door or the fact that I have seen plenty of other students in there studying and not having a drink or book from their establishment but Im also not a person who likes confrontation nor did I think it should be necessary to say all of this. He just laughed and I just said okay and left. I get that it is a business and by all means they have every right to change the rules however they see fit but to just say something was never allowed that was and even down to how that message was relayed to me just rubbed me entirely wrong. I've told classmates about this place to study, shared them over my own social media accounts in the hopes to again bring more business for them to stay around. The interaction I had today was just disheartening and I don't think I will ever be returning.
(First half of my review is deleted and has been Edited to respond to owner) Your response is a perfect example of what my main complaint was in my original review. As I stated, more than once, the problem was never having to purchase an item because I could accept accountability on maybe misinterpreting the intended use of your establishment. I had a problem with your choice on words used to relay that message to me. I was polite and respectful and you were very passive aggressive and snarky. All it took was a polite notice to that change because again this was something clearly that either your staff/you were lenient on in the past. Even if you think you weren’t (which is to be left to agree and disagree )it was a simple misunderstanding that ended with a bad reaction on your behalf with a returning customer and potential customer for the day. You chose to compare a fast food restaurant to an establishment with seating everywhere and book rooms where you can literally sit to read. It’s not far fetched for people to come and think it would be okay to just “ study “. Since Mc Donald’s was the comparison point, no I wouldn’t be kicked out as soon as I walked in because I decided to sit to study. Mind you I never made it past your front entrance. The potential to buy was still there especially because I always look through the art books before I leave whenever I do come whether I’m buying a $6 coffee with it or not. That’s one thing I’d hope you’d take from this situation for your future customers and returning customers. Assuming someone won’t purchase anything just because either they didn’t initially intend to or they state they didn’t want one of the many products you sell doesn’t mean they aren’t still a potential customer for another product or even the same product they initially declined. I have no problem supporting my local businesses monetarily that know how to talk to their local supporters like a decent...
Read moreI took a leap of faith picking out a nice quiet place for my bridesmaids and I to meet up and chat and I had no regrets. Three of us ended up getting latte’s and mine was french vanilla and it was astounding! I’m not a huge coffee person but I loved every part of the experience as well as the coffee and everyone seemed quite content. I had a younger bridesmaid who found some varied building kits which were available for purchase and we had a lot of fun with those too, so that was much appreciated. All in all, the owner is approachable and friendly, the staff seem very happy and incredibly knowledgeable about their work, the interior decor is very comforting and visually pleasing and if that doesn’t suit you, the outside seating is also...
Read moreThis coffee shop is so nice. We ordered two vanilla lavender ice lattes and one cinnamon honey cappuccino, we all agreed that it was some of the best coffee we've had in a while. The pastries were amazing and went very well with the drinks.
All of the staff was super friendly and very helpful. Also the book selection was vast with so many authors that I recognized and didn't. Despite a small rush coming through while we were there, it never got too loud and was very relaxing.
We will definitely be going back here and look forward to trying more items...
