Good Mexican restaurant in Stephenville. Although they are a dime a dozen Casa Azteca brings a new menu to the usual fare of Tex-Mex. The food is good although a bit over seasoned. The Chori Queso we ordered was definitely over salty even the table next to us mentioned this and I love salt but it was a bit too much. I ordered al pastor tacos. The tortillas were soft and very good but the pork like the queso was a bit over done with seasoning. I think a little balance and let the natural flavors of the food work for you instead of hitting it so hard with spices. We also ordered fajitas and they were very good for the tenderness and very juicy and were not over seasoned. The drinks were great. Had a double margarita and they must make their own mixer because it was perfect. Not too sweet or sour very well balanced marg with a good tequila. Definitely enjoyed the drinks here. Service was great but understandably got slower as it got busier after 7pm. The staff were all very friendly and quick. The menu is broad and gives you plenty of choices. Overall, a good new addition to restaurants in Stephenville and is nice to see this building finally have a working business again after being shuttered for so long. The interior has been extremely well renovated and looks great. If they make the food experience more consistent and balanced in flavor then they will have a great place.

When it comes to Mexican food I always prefer tiny hole in the wall places over big restaurants. I will make an exception this time with Azteca Bar and Grill. I didn't know what to expect with a place like this. Usually larger Mexican food restaurants tend to tone down the food for gringos like myself. I didn't get that sense here. My wife and I started the evening off with a couple if tequila shots followed by some Modelo Negras and then onto the margaritas. They were all very tasty. I do not however, remember their names. I wonder why. :-). As far as the food goes. I ordered the carnitas and my wife had the Talipia. This is actually the second time I had their carnitas. I obviously enjoyed them to have ot twice. However, I feel they are a little bland. I had to add some hot sauce to them. Otheee than that they were good . My wife enjoyed her fish but commented that it was a little on the small side. All in all, thus is a great place with a lovely bar. If you are looking for a date night restaurant, thus would be a good choice. Prices are great!

Their food and drinks are okay. But what made me upset was we went here last night and we have a 10 year old daughter. So we order our food and they end up bringing out all adults food before the kids food (mistake #1). So we are sitting there for like 10 minutes and our daughter still haven't gotten her food (mistake #2). Well finally my husband gets a managers attention and basically tells him that this isn't right the kid should get her food first always. So anyway they gave us the kids meal for free which was good because she said the chicken tasted bad and she maybe took 2 bites of a piece and was done. I posted a picture of it. Because ya the chicken looks really bad and dried out and the fries were bad too (mistake #3) I tasted them too. So pretty much they aren't very kid friendly here.

I went here for a gathering with some friend and their children, 6 adults and 2 children. My Friend had gotten there before us to get the table, since we knew there was going to be a slight wait. The host told my friend that it was going to be a 30 min wait, we all got there and we noticed that it was 35 after and we haven't been called. My friend went in and asked if they called us because we were outside, she said no, it would be an additional 15-20 mins. We waited the additional 20 mins, this would make it an hour wait and we still were not called. I went in this time with my friend to see what the response would be, she said there were no tables and they are just waiting for a table to become free, the host didn't give us a wait time at this point, she just assured us that we would be next. We waited an additional 15 min, at this point we waited an hour and 15 mins. I went in and spoke to the hostess, I understood that they were not in control of when the costumers would leave the table but since we have been waiting over an hour could they possibly give us free queso or guacamole when we do sit, since we have been waiting this long and we were misquoted a wait time. She said that she would have to ask the manager. After 1 hour and 35 min wait we sit down to two small table with 8 chairs around it, everyone was elbow to elbow. We sat for 10 mins and the server took our drink order , we get the drinks and wait another 10 mins for the sever to come back and ask what we would like to order, we all replied that we did not know because we weren't given menus when we sat down. She brought us menus and I pulled her aside and advised her that I spoke to the hostess about getting Queso or Guacamole since we had to wait 1 hr and 35 mins, she said "oh its always like this." , I asked her if she could ask since we also did not get menus to look at when we sat down. She said she would try. They brought the food out and no one could eat because they did not give anyone silverware. We waited 10 mins and no one came back to check to see how everything was, so all my guests started to eat with their hands. After another 10 mins the server came by and asked if everything was ok, we advised her that we did not get silverware and she got some right away but only brought 3 for a table of 8. The server did come back towards the end of the meal and advised us that the manager is going to take care of the guacamole, we said thank you. I am not sure if this all happened on a bad day or if this is normal, but me and my 5 other friends will not be returning here. I would have given this place 1 star but I gave another because the lady that made the guacamole was great. I am just sharing my experience, go to this establishment at...

This place is very hit-or-miss. When it's good, it's good...when it's bad, it's bad. Tonight I ordered my pickup order through DoorDash, but it was still a "self-pickup". I waited until the estimated time that the app said my food would be ready. It was approximately 4pm when this occured, so it was not a busy time. I arrived. There were several employees around the front. Several would look at me but not greet me. I understand it was also shift change time, but it was a bit ridiculous in the lack of care from the employees. When I finally was greet about 10-15 minutes of standing my the front counter, the girl asked what I needed and I stated that I had a pickup order and gave her my name. She went to the back and took approximately 5 minutes to still come back without my order. She then said "oh, it should be under my account let me just cash you out". I had already paid through DoorDash so wasn't super clear what she meant, but I went with it. She then did somethign behind the counter and went back to the kitchen for a 2nd time. This time she was back there for approximately 10-15 minutes. She finally came back with my order, but then gave a sassy remark about how it was a doordash order. yes, it was however right below the door dash logo had my name....in pretty big font. At this point, I was standing there for close to 30 minutes and all this time only 1 employee had approached me, but many were just looking.

If that wasn't enough, the order was messed up. I was hungry and frustrated so just waited until I got home to check the order (yes, I know...ROOKIE mistake). I did not receive the sour cream I asked for and the food was not made how I asked (I asked for soft corn tortillas and was given flour), also the food was cold. Maybe if she wasn't messing around in the back, my food would've at least been warm. I live in town so it would not have gotten that cold just from the drive from the restaurant.

Service was absolutely horrible and the food was barely edible. There are definitely better...

Only giving them 3 stars because the food is delicious. i would give 1 star if the food wasn’t great. It’s always been my favorite place to eat in Stephenville since i moved here, but recently i’ve been going with my family and a young man has been our waiter every time. Every single time, he has gotten my little nieces orders wrong. He brings out the kids food last, and doesn’t refill the kids drinks, even though i got the same drink and it wasn’t a problem to refill mine. He does not write our orders down, he just tries to remember it, then ends up forgetting a lot of things we asked for, or getting it completely wrong. we went there earlier today, and this all happened again. But this time we wanted to get what we asked for so we corrected everything he got wrong, he then noticeably rolled his eyes with his co- worker about it. Most of the time, children are picky eaters so it would be nice to get what we asked for our 3 little girls. all of the other times that we have been there, my nieces have been super sweet and accept that their whole order is incorrect and he constantly brings out food that they don’t like to eat! but when our waiter adds an eye roll about his own consistent mistake, that’s when it gets annoying. i saw another review that says Azteca just isn’t very kid friendly, and i agree. Although, the rest of the staff that i have met, seem to be super nice and helpful. we love the sweet ladies who make our guacamole at the side of our table. it’s just that 1 young man who loves to have an attitude, mess everything up, and rarely remembers to...
