Thai by Thai — Restaurant in Sterling

We've been eating there for years - ever since it opened. For the most part, they're excellent. Great flavor. I don't know if it's due to staff changes but they seem to have periods where it's not very good and they can't get the orders correct - i.e. somethings it's too oily, spiciness wrong, missing items/order in take-out. I agree that their customer service could be better. When they don't fill an order, instead of "whoops, our bad", and that's the end of it, meaning they don't offer to compensate, now that they do Doordash, they should send the missing item to you, not ask you to come back. I bet that would stop the lack of making sure a take-out order is complete. We've learned to check the order before we leave. But the frustrating thing is having to wait for the missing order to be prepared. Next time we're going o just tell them to send it by Doordash. All and all its a very good restaurant. When they get it right, it's 5-stars. It's great food. We just wish they would be more consistent with the taste, spiciness, and most importantly - getting the take-out...

One of the best neighborhood Thai places that I’ve been going to since my kids were in high school and it’s absolutely one of the best best best Thai food places in town!!!! It’s a family owned restaurant that serves up freshly made to order classic Thai dishes that we have grown up with. Kaprow fried rice , the amazing chicken wings ( a must try and NO ONE in the DMV makes chicken wings like these , I can swear by them) , the Kai rabard which is minced chicken over steamed jasmine rice topped with a fried egg makes it simply delicious , the pad see ew thick noodles , the crispy duck , the Thai red curry and not to forget the age old fave Pad Thai which is by far one of the best Pad Thais this side of the world!!! Absolutely my go to Thai place and they never fail to serve up freshly made delicious meals like true home made cooking. Highly recommended. I ordered Pad se ew to go. When I got home I found out that my order was burnt, I called so they could rectify the situation but instead the manager lady took over the phone and tried to convince me that this is how they make this dish. My beef was burnt, my noodles were burnt and it is not my first time eating pad se ew. I offered to send them pictures cuz she kept convincing me. After the cook saw the pictures he agreed that it was burnt, and then the manager lady called me that it was burnt but kept making excuses about it. She wanted me to get store credit for my dish or bring it back. I have already ordered and picked it up and I wasn't even asking for the money just the food but they insisted either I come back with the food or they can't have it delivered.
