I recently had the pleasure of dining at Laziz Kabob in Sterling, and I cannot stop raving about it! From the moment I walked in, the warm hospitality—courtesy of the charming, locally owned restaurant—made me feel right at home. The space itself is beautifully reimagined, offering a cozy yet welcoming vibe that invites you to settle in and enjoy.
Food
The variety and authenticity of the Afghan kabobs are truly outstanding. I sampled several—like the juicy beef, savory lamb, and the richly spiced chicken—and each was flavorful, tender, and cooked with care.
The Laziz platter for two or four is a must-order—it’s generous, bursting with flavor, and perfect for sharing.
Don’t skip the clay oven–baked Afghan bread—fresh, warm, and utterly addictive.
I also tried the gyro platter over salad—a delightful fusion of textures and flavors that speaks to the chef’s attention to detail.
Drinks & Sides
Their mango lassi is a standout—smooth, refreshing, and just the right balance of sweetness—an ideal companion to hearty kabobs.
The baba ganoush that I ordered alongside was smoke‑kissed, creamy, and memorable.
Service & Ambiance
The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming—genuine warmth that elevates the whole dining experience.
The effort they put into transforming a dated space into this stylish, inviting gem speaks volumes.
Value
Despite the generous portions and high-quality ingredients, prices remain fair—this place offers excellent value for what you get.
Overall Laziz Kabob is a true hidden gem in Sterling’s culinary scene. With its authentic Afghan flavors, thoughtfully curated menu, thoughtful service, and cozy atmosphere, it’s easily one of the best dining experiences around. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of their menu—and you...
Read moreLaziz Kabob is beyond incredible across the board. It was my first time visiting today and everything from the service, the ambiance, and the food and drink was phenomenal. They recently opened and it’s clear that a lot of time and intention was put into creating a wonderful and homey atmosphere. I could spend all day in there!
My boyfriend and I have been visiting Afghan restaurants around the area and couldn’t wait to try the food here. He got lamb and beef kabob and I got the veggie platter. We both shared a mango lassi (and then got another because we drank it so fast LOL) and a cauliflower appetizer. When I tell you they do not skimp on the seasoning and the love, I mean it. The lassi is perfect, the cauliflower is top tier restaurant quality in terms of flavor, and the veggie platter was incredibly flavorful all around. Their chickpeas are the best I’ve ever had, same with their spinach. My boyfriend found the meat super juicy and flavorful. They are SO generous with portion sizes, at least for my veggie meal - I was so impressed with how much food you get.
I loved the free water station, the fact that sauces are served out of a bottle for your enjoyment, and the subtle music in the background. All beautiful touches. The people here are so welcoming and kind, they make this place a 10/10, can’t wait...
Read moreGreat kabob spot, actually one of the best kabob spots in N.Va.
Service is good, food is well cooked, well spiced and honestly its..authentic.
The owner does not cheap out on portions, and the cooks although not authentic seem to know what they are doing.
It seems to always have customers each time I go there, so I am sure that is a good sign.
Have the usual kabob joint 'decor' curtains, same reused pictures that all kabob spots use [[..theory: Is one guy going to all kabob joints and selling pictures to all of them??..]]
Buffet is kind of lacking, but I don't really get that when I go.
Stars:
Food - Excellent - well cooked authentic to taste
Service - Good - good timing, but it is more pick up from counter when your food is ready
Atmosphere - usual kabob joint atmosphere - clean (table/floor/trays/plates/silverware)
Location - In Sterling in a busy shopping center, I actually look forward to going to this area
Family Friendly - Yep, quiet, relaxed, and well taken care of.
Would I return - Yepp, not a fan of kabobs all the time, but if I am craving them and am in there area, this is...
